Usdan Center For the Performing Arts, the nationally renowned summer arts day camp which has introduced the arts to more than 50,000 young people, announces that Maurice Brandon Curry, a director/choreographer/educator, and former Director of the Joffrey Ballet School, will become Chairperson of the Usdan Center Dance Department beginning in the summer of 2010.

The top seven contestants of 'American Idol' kicked off the week with a set of inspirational songs led by the incomparable Alicia Keys. Keys was brought in due to her talent as well as her charity involvement, specifically working with families suffering from HIV and AIDS, as the show celebrates 'Idol Gives Back' this week. Some of the performances were perfect for the theme, while other lacked inspiration and felt as though they could have been performed any other week. As the competition heats up, the contestants will have to give standout performances weekly, and some of them failed to grow this week, while others had fantastic showings.

Wacht, President of Sierra Realty Corporation.

According to numerous published reports, Mariah Carey may be immortalized in a new musical about her life and, allegedly, the famous singer is hoping to be portrayed on Broadway by Leona Lewis. A spokesperson for Carey reveals: 'Mariah is in talks for a Broadway musical to be made about her life in 2009.'

Last night at the premiere of WHY DID I GET MARRIED TOO, Tyler Perry revealed that Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Whoopi Goldberg, Phylicia Rashad, Jurnee Smollett, Kimberly Elise, Kerry Washington, and Macy Gray would be starring in his upcmong film of FOR COLORED GIRLS WHO HAVE CONSIDERED SUICIDE WHEN THE RAINBOW IS ENUF.

Last Night, March 7, stars from all over the world came out for the 82nd Annual Academy Awards Ceremony at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood California. 'The Hurt Locker' won Best Picture and the film's director Kathryn Bigelow took home the award for Best Director. Jeff Bridges took home the Oscar for Best Actor for his work in 'Crazy Heart', Sandra Bullock won Best Actress for 'The Blind Side', Christoph Waltz took home Best Supporting Actor for 'Inglourious Basterds' and Mo'Niqe garnered the award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in 'Precious'.

According to Variety, Indian composer of 'Slumdog Millonaire' fame A.R. Rahman has teamed up with creative director Amy Tinkham to launch 'Jai Ho Concert: The Journey Home World Tour.'

Additionally, Jamie Foxx, Lenny Kravitz, Regina King, Taraji P. Henson, Myrlie Evers Williams, Adam Rodriguez, Sherri Shepherd, Mo'Nique, Morgan Freeman, Sandra Bullock, Gabourey Sidibe, Alfre Woodard, Mariah Carey, Mekhi Phifer and Tatyana Ali, among others, are scheduled to appear on the special. International musicians are rallying to assist with the charity record, including Miley Cyrus, Mariah Carey, and Jon Bon Jovi (as announced by Perez Hilton yesteday), joining the previously announced Michael Buble, Rod Stewart and Leona Lewis. People Magazine reported that UK sensation Susan Boyle has also signed on to participate and is expected to record a version of REM's 'Everybody Hurts.'
