Steppenwolf Theatre Company presents its 6th annual First Look Repertory of New Work-three developmental productions of new plays presented in rotating repertory playing October 27 - November 14, 2010 in Steppenwolf's Merle Reskin Garage Theatre, 1624 N. Halsted St. The 2010 festival will also include three free readings by emerging playwrights presented November 5-7, 2010. Tickets for all productions are currently on-sale.

Today Berkeley Repertory Theatre announced that 15 college graduates from across the nation - including five natives of Northern California - have been awarded fellowships for the upcoming season.

Fresh from her Broadway run of Hair, Annaleigh Ashford returned to the Broadway at Birdland concert series with the musical magic of James Sampliner, on Monday, July 12. Annaleigh dazzled the packed house with popular classics by everyone from Doris Day to Janis Joplin. With an emphasis on the sounds of the 60's and 70's, Ashford and Sampliner performed 'It's Magic,' 'Mona Lisa's and Mad Hatters,' 'Beautiful,' 'When I'm 64,' and many more. Jim Caruso is delighted to announce the return of ANNALEIGH ASHFORD to the stage of Birdland on Monday, July 12 at 7pm. This event is part of the long-running Broadway at Birdland concert series. Musical director and arranger for the show will be JAMES SAMPLINER.

The NEW ART CLUB will perform BIG BAG OF BOOM! at Assembly as part of the Edinburgh Fringe 2010 Comedy Leicester Comedy Festival. The theater is located on George Street. Performances will take place between August 5th - 29th.

Tony Award winner Paulo Szot returns to the role of Emile de Becque in Lincoln Center Theater's Tony Award winning production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's SOUTH PACIFIC, at the Vivian Beaumont Theater, on Wednesday, July 7, returning after a leave to fulfill a previous opera commitment.

Ballet Manila, one of the Philippines' major ballet companies, had recently staged the two-act classic ballet 'Giselle' at Manila Broadcasting Company's Aliw Theatre, Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex, Pasay City, Manila. The ballet stars 45-year-old prima ballerina Lisa Macuja-Elizalde in the title role.

From June 25th to July 5th,The Australian Ballet presents Peggy! - a tribute to the woman who shaped The Australian Ballet: Dame Peggy van Praagh. On the centenary of Dame Peggy's birth and as The Australian Ballet's 50th anniversary draws closer, Peggy! will dip into the company's history to celebrate the lady, the legend and her ballets with a gala-style programme of highlights from her long and glittering reign. Actress Jennifer Ellison is in 'talks and talks' to take on the role of Elle Woods in the West End production of LEGALLY BLONDE, The Daily Mail's Baz Bamigboye reports. Ellison would replace Sheridan Smith, who is currently playing the role and is to leave in September or October.

ACT - A Contemporary Theatre splashes into summer with the continuation of its SOIL at ACT window displays, the irreverent satire The Female of the Species by Joanna Murray-Smith, then shifts to edge-of-your-seat intrigue with the Seattle premiere of Yankee Tavern by acclaimed playwright Steven Dietz.

The Jewish Museum's SummerNights program returns, presenting live world music in a concert setting on three Thursdays in July. Margot Leverett and the Klezmer Mountain Boys kick off SummerNights on July 1 followed by Ansambl Mastika on July 8, and The Sexteto Rodriguez Cuban-Jewish All Stars on July 15.
