ACT's 2010 Mainstage season continues with a savagely funny new comedy, The Female of the Species by Australian playwright Joanna Murray-Smith, June 18-July 18, 2010. This Seattle premiere is loosely based on a real-life incident when feminist icon, author, and professor Germaine Greer was attacked and held hostage in her home in the British countryside by a college co-ed obsessed with the famous writer.

ACT - A Contemporary Theatre splashes into summer with the continuation of its SOIL at ACT window displays, the irreverent satire The Female of the Species by Joanna Murray-Smith, then shifts to edge-of-your-seat intrigue with the Seattle premiere of Yankee Tavern by acclaimed playwright Steven Dietz.

Richard Fleeshman will join the cast of the critically acclaimed Legally Blonde The Musical from 16 June to play Warner Huntington III opposite Sheridan Smith as Elle Woods, Jill Halfpenny as Paulette, Peter Davison as Professor Callahan and Alex Gaumond as Emmett. Fleeshman takes over the role of Warner Huntington III from Duncan James whose final performance will be 14 June 2010. Legally Blonde The Musical, which opened at the Savoy Theatre earlier this year, is currently booking until 20 February 2011.

First Lillian Hellman's The Children's Hour, then Alan Ayckbourn's Woman in Mind had rights withheld because of Broadway producers' plans to mount the plays. So what does any self-respecting off off Broadway producer do?

Tickets are still available for the Thursday, July 8 at 7:30 pm concert by Ansambl Mastika, one of New York's best Balkan bands, drawing from the music of Eastern Europe, the Mediterranean basin and the Middle East. The July 8 performance is part of The Jewish Museum's popular SummerNights series.

Jim Caruso is delighted to announce the return of ANNALEIGH ASHFORD to the stage of Birdland on Monday, July 12 at 7pm. This event is part of the long-running Broadway at Birdland concert series. Musical director and arranger for the show will be JAMES SAMPLINER.

The West End production of LEGALLY BLONDE: THE MUSICAL will receive its own cast recording, according to a post on the musical's Facebook page on May 21st. The show will be recorded live on June 12, 13, and 14 for a yet-to-be-announced release date.

England's Royal Ballet is to hold an exhibit about its history at the Lowry Centre in Salford, England, the BBC has reported. The exhibit will be titled 'Invitation to the Ballet: Ninette de Valois and the story of The Royal Ballet' and will honor de Valois, the company's founder. De Valois was considered one of the founders of modern British ballet.

THE FIRST NATIONAL TOUR OF LEGALLY BLONDE THE MUSICAL will begin performances at The New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in Newark, NJ on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 and will play through Sunday, June 6, 2010.

Autumn Hurlbert, Lori Prince, and Michael Puzzo are set to star in Killing Women, by Marisa Wegrzyn and presented by kef productions. The production runs at the Beckett Theatre May 13- June 5 and will be directed by Adam Fitzgerald. Additional casting is yet to be announced.

From June 25th to July 5th,The Australian Ballet presents Peggy! - a tribute to the woman who shaped The Australian Ballet: Dame Peggy van Praagh. On the centenary of Dame Peggy's birth and as The Australian Ballet's 50th anniversary draws closer, Peggy! will dip into the company's history to celebrate the lady, the legend and her ballets with a gala-style programme of highlights from her long and glittering reign.
