Photo Coverage: Angela Lansbury & Cast Take Bows in Acting Company's THE CHALK GARDEN

Just last night, the Acting Company held a one-night-only benefit reading of British drama The Chalk Garden by Enid Bagnold, starring Angela Lansbury. Completing the cast were Tedra Millan (Present Laughter, The Wolves) as Laurel, Patricia Conolly (The Front Page), Michele Tauber (Mint Theatre's The Charity That Began at Home), Holly Villaire (Scapino), Francesca Faridany (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time) as Miss Madrigal, Simon Jones (Blithe Spirit, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) as the Judge, David Lansbury (War Horse) as Maitland and Charlotte Parry (The Importance of Being Earnest) as Olivia.

Casting Complete for Angela Lansbury-Led THE CHALK GARDEN Benefit Reading

Final casting has been confirmed for The Acting Company's benefit reading of British drama The Chalk Garden by Enid Bagnold, starring Angela Lansbury. The one-night-only event will take place on Monday, June 19 at 7 PM, at The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College, 68th Street between Park and Lexington Avenues, presented by The Acting Company in association with Andrew Bryan and Opus Blue Productions.

Angela Lansbury's Nephew, David Lansbury, Will Join Her in THE CHALK GARDEN Reading

Additional principal casting has been confirmed for the Angela Lansbury-helmed reading of Enid Bagnold's British drama The Chalk Garden, a benefit for The Acting Company to be held for one night only, Monday, June 19, at 7 PM, at The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College, 68th Street between Park and Lexington Avenues.

LADY TATTOO to Close Out The Acting Company's 2016-17 Salon Series

The Acting Company will conclude its 2016-2017 John McDonald Salon Series with Meg Miroshnik's Lady Tattoo, a compelling new play about the subversive trend of wealthy American women embracing tattoo artistry at the turn of the 20th century. Lady Tattoo explores the human need for the power and control that secrets offer.

The Acting Company will continue its 2016-2017 John McDonald Salon Series with the first New York City reading of Marcus Gardley's Atlanta-based reinvention of Moliere, A Wolf in Snakeskin Shoes: Or, The Gospel of Tartuffe on Monday, March 20th at 7 PM at the Marjorie S. Deane Little Theater at the West Side YMCA, 10 W. 64th Street, New York, NY. 

Dana Ivey Directs Rare Sci-Fi Comedy For One-Night Only Reading

The Acting Company (Ian Belknap, Artistic Director; Elisa Spencer-Kaplan, Executive Director) will continue its 2016-2017 John McDonald Salon Series with a reading of Karel Capek's influential science fiction comedy R.U.R. on Monday, February 13th at 7 PM at the Marjorie S. Deane Little Theater at the West Side YMCA, 10 W. 64th Street, New York, NY.

The Acting Company's CAESAR/X to Play New Victory Theater This Spring

The assassinations of Rome's great ruler of the Republic and revolutionary leader Malcolm X take to the stage when Tony Award-winning The Acting Company couples Shakespeare's Julius Caesar with X: Or, Betty Shabazz v. The Nation, a compelling new play by lauded playwright Marcus Gardley (The House that Will Not Stand, The Gospel of Lovingkindness, Every Tongue Confess, On The Levee). These two gripping dramas make their Off-Broadway debut at The New Victory Theater from March 17 - 26, 2017.

The Acting Company's 44th National Tour Pairs Shakespeare & Malcolm X

The Acting Company announces its 2016-17 season and 44th national tour featuring two new gripping dramas in repertory -- the world premiere of Marcus Gardley's X and William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. Both will be staged in an exciting artistic and educational collaboration with nearly 30 universities, colleges and community partners. The Company also has announced a five month, monthly Monday night Salon Reading Series in New York City.

The Acting Company to Dedicate Staged Reading of LETTICE AND LOVAGE to Peter Shaffer, Angela Lansbury and Dana Ivey to Star

With today's news on the passing of playwright Peter Shaffer, The Acting Company will be dedicating their one night only staged reading of Lettice and Lovage on Monday, June 13 at 7 p.m. to his memory.  Angela Lansbury and Dana Ivey will head an all-star cast featuring Patricia Connolly and original Broadway cast member, Paxton Whitehead at The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College, 68th Street between Park and Lexington Avenues.
