Arizona Theatre Company is holding general season auditions for equity actors for the 2019/2020 Season in Phoenix from 12-4:30 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. on Monday, June 3 in the Kax black-box theatre at the Herberger Theater Center, 222 E. Monroe.

The main event for Terrific New Theatre (TNT) this month is a boxing drama inspired by groundbreaking African-American sports legend Jack Johnson. "The Royale" is an electrifying adrenaline rush that packs an unforgettable punch as it takes you inside Jim Crow America, inside the ring, and inside the head of a remarkable prizefighter. The production runs Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings from May 2-18, plus two Sunday matinees, although there is no performance Saturday, May 4.
The Royale, the 2015 play by Marco Ramirez currently playing in Geva Theatre's Fielding Stage, isn't as much about boxing as it is about race, greatness, and a man who's moving faster than the world around him. The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts hosts more than 120 outstanding theater students from colleges and universities across the nation as part of the 50th annual Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF), which runs April 16-20, 2019 in multiple locations throughout the Center. The Center also announced the national awardees for the KCACTF. Selected awardees and representatives will be brought to Washington, D.C. for an expense-paid trip to participate in the National Festival. These student artists from across the United States have been recognized for their outstanding work from the eight regional festivals that were held January 8 through February 28, 2019.

The Old Vic today announces that Clarke Peters (The Wire, Five Guys Named Moe) will be joining the cast of Arthur Miller's The American Clock, directed by Rachel Chavkin, to play Robertson / Moe 3 / Taylor in the production until 2 March. He replaces Giles Terera who has had to withdraw from the production due to personal reasons. Sule Rimi (Sweat, Barber Shop Chronicles) takes over the roles from 4 to 30 March.
Center Theatre Group has selected participants for the 2018-2019 L.A. Writers' Workshop, where local playwrights are invited to spend eight months in residence at the company researching and writing new works with the feedback from artistic staff and their fellow writers.
