TV Exclusive: Sneak Peek of Playwrights Realm's THE HATMAKER'S WIFE

Critically acclaimed theatre company The Playwrights Realm will present the New York premiere of Lauren Yee's new play The Hatmaker's Wife, directed by recent OBIE Award winner Rachel Chavkin (Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812). The Hatmaker's Wife marks the first Playwrights Realm production at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater (416 West 42nd Street) in midtown Manhattan, following previous engagements in several downtown Off-Broadway venues. Critically acclaimed theatre company The Playwrights Realm has announced the cast and creative team for the New York premiere of Lauren Yee's new play The Hatmaker's Wife, directed by recent OBIE Award winner Rachel Chavkin (Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812). The Hatmaker's Wife marks the first Playwrights Realm production at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater (416 West 42nd Street) in midtown Manhattan, following previous engagements in several downtown Off-Broadway venues. Ensemble Studio Theatre Kicks Off 2013 Marathon of One-Acts

Previews began Saturday (May 18) for The Ensemble Studio Theatre's 45-year-old Marathon of One-Act Plays, the longest running, most acclaimed one-act play festival in the country. The theatre's artistic director, William Carden, has selected 16 plays to be presented on THREE separate programs for The Ensemble Studio Theatre's 2013 Marathon of One-Act Plays May 18 through June 29 at The Ensemble Studio Theatre, 549 West 52nd Street.

After 34 years, The Ensemble Studio Theatre's Marathon of One-Act Plays is the longest running, most acclaimed one-act play festival in the country. OLIVE AND THE BITTER HERBS Adds Extra Performance, 9/4

Due to popular demand, and to accommodate ticket holders affected by the cancellation of performances due to Hurricane Irene this past weekend, Primary Stages (Casey Childs, Founder & Executive Producer; Andrew Leynse, Artistic Director; Elliot Fox, Managing Director) has added a special performance on Sunday afternoon, September 4th at 3:00 p.m. to the World Premiere of a work commissioned by the company, the new comedy, Olive and the Bitter Herbs by Charles Busch directed by Mark Brokaw.

The unfortunate case of laryngitis inflicting Death Takes A Holiday's leading man, Julian Ovenden, divided press reservations for the new musical into 'before' and 'after.'  I was originally scheduled to see the show the week of its opening, but when understudy Kevin Earley began filling in, many of us were, understandably, put on hold to wait for his return.
