Iama Theatre Presents THE RECOMMENDATION, Now thru 3/9

IAMA Theatre Company has announced the Los Angeles premiere of The Recommendation, written by Jonathan Caren and directed by Laura Savia, at Theatre Asylum in Hollywood. Opening is set for tonight, February 8 at 8pm. The Recommendation will play a limited engagement through March 9 only.

WINTER GAMES, POOR SHEM & SOME PREPARED REMARKS Set for 38th Humana Festival of New American Plays

Actors Theatre of Louisville Artistic Director Les Waters and Managing Director Jennifer Bielstein have announced the three ten-minute plays chosen to premiere during the 38th Humana Festival of New American Plays (February 26 - April 6, 2014). This year's ten-minute plays are Winter Games by Rachel Bonds, Some Prepared Remarks (A History in Speech) by Jason Gray Platt and Poor Shem by Gregory Hischak.

Kristin Chenoweth and Edgerton Foundation to Be Honored at NCTF 2014 Chairman's Awards Gala, 3/31

On March 31st at New York City's Pierre Hotel, the National Corporate Theatre Fund (NCTF) will honor Tony and Emmy Award Winning singer and actress Kristin Chenoweth, and the Edgerton Foundation for their leadership in the arts at the NCTF 2014 Chairman's Awards Gala. The evening will be chaired by Chairman James S. Turley, Cisco Systems, Inc, Wells Fargo/Joseph F. Kirk and world-renowned playwright David Henry Hwang.

Salon Sanctuary Presents PERPETUAL MOTION: GALILEO AND HIS REVOLUTIONS Tonight

Salon Sanctuary will present 'Perpetual Motion: Galileo and His Revolutions' tonight, February 7th at 8pm, featuring Galileo's Daughters, with guests lutenist Ronn McFarlane, author Dava Sobel, and video artist Marc Wagnon. The concert is set for The Renaissance Library of the House of the Redeemer, 7 East 95th Street, NY, NY 10128.

Andre De Shields & Adam Chanler-Berat to Lead Public Theater & DTC's THE FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE in Dallas; Full Cast & Creative Team Announced

Dallas Theater Center announced today the award-winning cast and creative team for the world premiere new musical The Fortress of Solitude, a co-production with The Public Theater in New York City. The Fortress of Solitude is based on the nationally best-selling novel of the same name by 2005 MacArthur Fellow Jonathan Lethem. The musical is conceived and directed by Daniel Aukin, with a book by Itamar Moses, and music and lyrics by Michael Friedman. The Fortress of Solitude opens with previews on March 7 and runs through April 6. Official: Gabriel Ebert, Patrick Page, John Cullum & More Set for MTC's CASA VALENTINA- Full Cast Announced!

Manhattan Theatre Club (Lynne Meadow, Artistic Director; Barry Grove, Executive Producer), by special arrangement with Colin Callender, Robert Cole, Frederick Zollo and The Shubert Organization, just announced complete casting for the upcoming world premiere of CASA VALENTINA, the new play by four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein, directed by two-time Tony Award winner Joe Mantello.

Tickets Now On Sale for Wild Root's ROOM AT THE END OF THE HALL Workshop, 3/6-8

The Wild Root Company, a non-profit New York City-based production endeavor committed to cultivating bold new works from emerging playwrights and screenwriters, will present a series of fully staged workshop performances of Rocco Natale's acclaimed new drama ROOM AT THE END OF THE HALL at the Fourth Street Theatre in Manhattan March 6-8, 2014. Ross Evans (Broadway's BEAUTIFUL, VENUS IN FUR; Manhattan Theatre Club Mary Mill Directing Fellow) will direct the fully staged presentations with scenic design by Edward T. Morris (Yale Rep's STONES IN HIS POCKETS). Casting and additional creative team will be announced in the coming weeks.

TCG Books Releases John Patrick Shanley's OUTSIDE MULLINGAR

Theatre Communications Group (TCG) has announced the publication of John Patrick Shanley's Outside Mullingar, a compassionate and delightful romantic comedy from the Pulitzer Prize, Tony Award and Oscar-winning author of Doubt. The play is currently enjoying its world premiere, helmed by the Tony Award-winning director, Doug Hughes, at Manhattan Theatre Club, starring Debra Messing and Brian F. O'Byrne.

Drama League Announces New Beatrice Terry Fellowship for Emerging Female Writer-Directors

The Drama League, and Tony Award winning-director and Drama League Alumnus, Michael Mayer (Hedwig and the Angry Inch), announced the establishment of the new Drama League Beatrice Terry Fellowship, named in honor of the late director Beatrice Terry, an alumna of The Drama League Directors Project, during last night's 30th Annual Musical Celebration of Broadway Honoring Neil Patrick Harris, held at the famed Pierre Hotel (2 East 61st Street).

Manhattan Theatre Club presented its annual Winter Benefit, an evening of cocktails and dinner followed by a special one-night-only cabaret-style show featuring Broadway's brightest stars last night, February 3, 2014 at The Allen Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Fredrick P. Rose Hall (Broadway & 60th Street). This year's Winter Benefit was directed by Marc Bruni (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, The Explorers Club) and featured performances by Tony Award nominee Daniel Breaker (Shrek, Passing Strange), two-time Tony Award Winner Norbert Leo Butz (Big Fish, Catch Me If You Can ), two-time Tony Award nominee Laura Osnes (Rogers & Hammerstein's Cinderella, Bonnie & Clyde), and two-time Tony Award nominee Condola Rashad (Romeo & Juliet, The Trip To Bountiful). Company of Fools to Present GOOD PEOPLE, 2/12-3/1

This February Company of Fools (COF) will present the critically acclaimed and award-winning play, Good People, by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Lindsay-Abaire. As part of The Center's multi-disciplinary project Creativity and Work, COF will present 13 public performances running from February 12 through March 1.

MTC's THE COMMONS OF PENSACOLA Enters Final Week of Performances

Manhattan Theatre Club's critically acclaimed world premiere of THE COMMONS OF PENSACOLA, the new play by Amanda Peet, directed by MTC's award-winning artistic director Lynne Meadow, starts the final week of its smash hit run Tuesday, February 4 at MTC at New York City Center - Stage I (131 West 55th Street).

Patrick Page and John Cullum Join Cast of MTC's CASA VALENTINA

The world premiere of Casa Valentina, the play by four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein, directed by two-time Tony Award winner Joe Mantello, is set to begin previews on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 and open Wednesday, April 23, 2014 on Broadway at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street). According to the New York Post, Broadway favorites Patrick Page and John Collum have just signed on to star in the play. Additional casting has not yet been announced

There will be two lower-priced preview performances on Thursday, February 6 and Friday, February 7 at 8pm, and opening is set for Saturday, February 8 at 8pm. The Recommendation will play a limited engagement through March 9 only.
