Four years ago, Slipstream Theatre Initiative came into view with a very sparse but hopeful production of Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale . Now, after 24 full scale productions, the company emerges for its fourth season. Pulling a new card from its deck, the young company ventures into original devised works, classics, and a musical or two.

Based on the lesser known 'La Mi-Careme (Mid-Lent)' by Henri Meilhac and Ludovic Halevy, Nain Rouge is a story about a raucous hotel and its wacky tenants on the night of the popular Detroit festival. Audiences will be able to join the actors on stage throughout the night, as this farce has an interactive game built into it. Join the zany Marguerite Lamerthier and her trove of admirers on this light-hearted journey of indulgence.
In a modern retelling of the Robert Louis Stevenson classic about duality and temptation, Slipstream Theater Initiative is thrilled to present Dr. Heidi Jekyll. Dr. Jekyll is a talented, dedicated Midwestern pharmaceutical researcher, facing the daily struggles of sobriety.
A billionaire businessman runs against a former First Lady and Secretary of State for President. The battle is heated, divisive, and induces the country's political upheaval. The four children of the businessman stand to inherit a dynasty if they follow their father's orders. The only daughter of the former First Lady must face the scrutiny of the public eye. This is the world of Capulet versus Montague in Slipstream's spin on Shakespeare's iconic Romeo and Juliet. The youngest daughter of the Capulet clan and the only daughter of the Montague family are the star-crossed lovers in this version, and they will stop at nothing to be together.

Open Book is excited to present a professional production for the whole family in the new amphitheater at Market Center Park, near the corner of Eureka and Trenton where the old Montgomery Ward building once stood. Wiley and the Hairy Man, by Suzan Zeder is a spine tingling tale based on an old American folktale. It tells the story of a young boy named Wiley who goes deep into the swamp to conquer his only fear: the mythical Hairy Man.
