Dallas Black Dance Theatre Presents Fifth New York Season with Four New York Premieres

The Dallas Black Dance Theatre returns to New York for its fifth season of self-produced performances on April 22-23, 2016 at the Ailey Citigroup Theater, located at 405 West 55th Street, New York, NY 10019. The Masterworks Redefined - New York series will showcase the energetic dance artistry of the repertory dance company that is turning 40 in its 2016-2017 season. The National Endowment for the Arts designated Dallas Black Dance Theatre as an 'American Masterpiece Touring Artist.'

Macaya Gallery to Display Chor Boogie's HIEROS GAMOS Exhibit, 3/23

Renowned spray paint artist Chor Boogie reveals a breathtaking body of work in Hieros Gamos. Aesthetic elements of the Rococo and Baroque periods as well as Madonna iconography are reinterpreted through the medium of spray paint and contemporary street art styles. Internationally known biologist and writer Dr. Ana Isabel O is constantly embarking on new projects. Educated in Europe and a self-taught Victorian patchwork maker since the early 90s, Ordonez has presented her work in France and Luxembourg. As a scientist she holds Masters and PhDs in Genetics, Forestry and Animal Biology and has lectured extensively throughout Europe, Africa, Japan, China, New Zealand and South America on insect-plant pathology and biological control research. She has also written several articles on the value of nature. Ordonez, however, has not confined her interests to the world of science. A true Renaissance woman, she is also a reputed jazz editor, independent filmmaker, music/art promoter and producer. In 2012 she contributed tirelessly to the Dizzy Gillespie Memorial tribute with Christopher Kennedy Lawford, because she believes in her heart that true valuable art of any kind must never be forgotten.

Wendy Beckett's A BETTER PLACE Heads Off-Broadway This Spring

The Directors Company, in association with Pascal Productions, will present A BETTER PLACE, a new work by playwright Wendy Beckett (Anais Nin: One Of Her Lives, A Charity Case) and directed by Evan Bergman (Love Therapy), will play a limited six-week engagement this spring at The Duke on 42nd Street, a NEW 42ND STREET project (229 West 42nd Street, between 7th and 8th Avenues).

Weird Al's 'Mandatory' World Tour to Play Waterbury Palace Theater, 9/18

Following his wildly successful 2015 tour, four-time Grammy-winning artist "Weird Al" Yankovic has announced the continuation of his Mandatory World Tour in 2016, which includes a stop at the Waterbury Palace Theater in partnership with Premier Concerts and Manic Productions on Sunday, Sept. 18 at 8 p.m.  Also announced was a flyaway contest where winning fans will choose an all-expense-paid trip to Los Angeles to see one of his two performances at the Hollywood Bowl or to New York City for his show at Radio City Music Hall.  Complete contest info can be found at weirdal.com.

Weird Al to Bring New Tour to Kravis Center, 6/4

"Weird Al" Yankovic, the kinky-haired prince of parody hilarity, has won four Grammy Awards and accolades galore for classics such as Eat It (Michael Jackson's Beat It) and Like a Surgeon (Madonna's Like a Virgin). The top-selling comedy recording artist of all time, Weird Al got his start as a shy, accordion-playing teenager. His 2014 rendition, Word Crimes (Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines), debuted in the Billboard Top 40, making Al one of only three people to have had Top 40 singles in each of the last four decades. The other two? Michael Jackson and Madonna.
