2018 MAC Award Nominees Announced

The Manhattan Association of Cabarets (MAC) is pleased to announce the 2018 MAC Award nominees. The nominees, in a majority of the categories, were determined by votes cast by the active MAC membership. The MAC Board of Directors selected the nominees for Show of the Year. Special committees selected the nominees in the Ensemble Instrumentalist, Piano Bar Instrumentalist, Piano Bar Singing Entertainer (Female; Male), Recording (LaMott Friedman), Major Recording, Song and Comedy/Novelty Song categories. The names of the songwriters in the Song and Comedy/Novelty Song categories are being withheld during the voting period, but will be announced publicly as soon as the voting period concludes.

Reuben And The Dark Reveal “Hurricane” Video Choreographed By Megan Lawson

Reuben and the Dark is the spirited folk-rock outfit led by songwriter/vocalist Reuben Bullock. Contemplative, passionate, and expansive, Bullock's songwriting has earned comparisons to contemporaries like Vance Joy, Bright Eyes and Matt Corby. Today, the band reveals the breathtaking “Hurricane” video. Shot just outside Joshua Tree National Park, the desert creates a luminous palette for the abstract choreography, leaving viewers elevated yet grasping for the fleeting beauty. Working with creative director Medoli Meadows, the video was directed by Asher Moss and choreographed by Megan Lawson (Madonna, La La Land, Katy Perry).

Netflix and Constantin Film Announce the Start of Production of POLAR

Netflix and Constantin Film announce the start of production of Polar, a Constantin Film/Bolt Pictures co-production, in association with Dark Horse Entertainment. Polar is based on the Dark Horse action noir graphic novel Polar: Came From the Cold by Victor Santos.

Valour! Compassion!, Master Class), based on the celebrated novel by E. L. Doctorow. Celebrating its twentieth anniversary of opening on Broadway this month, the original 1998 production was nominated for a staggering thirteen Tony Awards and fourteen Drama Desk awards.

Capezio Celebrates 130 Years Of Excellence Dance Award Honorees

The Smith Center for the Performing Arts in Las Vegas   Capezio Dance Foundation presents: Capezio celebrates 130 years of excellence in a one-night only special Awards and show on Monday, May 14, 2018 at 7:30 pm at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, 361 Symphony Park Avenue, Las Vegas NV 89106.  A glorious production will highlight some of the magical history of Capezio with numerous dance legends and stars of stage and screen saluting this milestone.  The show is produced and directed by Ann Marie DeAngelo. The show benefts The Actors Fund and Future Dance (a program sponsored by Nevada Ballet Theatre). This is the first time that the Capezio Dance Awards are being presented to receipients of various dance genres.

Kennedy Center Announces DEMO: NOW

Damian Woetzel continues his innovative interdisciplinary series uniting artists from across fields in a special one-night only performance, March 7 in the Terrace Theater. Part of the inaugural DIRECT CURRENT, the Kennedy Center's two-week celebration of contemporary culture, this installment of the multi-genre series will present recently commissioned works, including a world premiere, and Washington, D.C. premieres by some of today's most creative and groundbreaking voices in dance and music.
