Benefit Reading of Eric Ulloa's Sandy Hook Play 26 PEBBLES Set for Culture Project

Producers R. Erin Craig, La Vie Productions, James E. Cleveland, Randy Donaldson and Wolfstone Productions will present a benefit staged reading of the Newtown docudrama 26 Pebbles, a stirring new play by Eric Ulloa to be directed by Igor Goldin. The star-studded one-night only event will be hosted by the Culture Project at The Lynn Redgrave Theater (45 Bleecker Street) on Monday, December 15th at 7:00PM in commemoration of the second anniversary of the tragedy. Proceeds from the event will benefit a collection of charities chosen by the citizens of the City of Newtown, whose voices and testimonies are evocatively presented-verbatim-in 26 Pebbles.

Bedlam Theatre Company's THE SEAGULL and SENSE & SENSIBILITY Begin Performances Tonight

Previews begin tonight, Friday, October 31, for Bedlam Theatre company's productions of Anton Chekhov's The Seagull adapted by Anya Reiss and Jane Austen's Sense & Sensibility adapted by Kate Hamill. The repertory pair will play as part of the inaugural season at the Sheen Center (18 Bleecker Street, NYC) through December 22. The off-Broadway theatre company, Bedlam, which received critical acclaim and multiple award nominations for its recent productions of Saint Joan and Hamlet, will present the North American Premiere of Anya Reiss' adaptation of The Seagull by Anton Chekhov, and the World Premiere of Kate Hamill's adaptation of Jane Austen's Sense & Sensibility. Both will be directed by Eric Tucker.

Barbershop quartets will take center stage at New Brunswick's George Street Playhouse as they present John Markus and Mark St. Germain's a cappella musical comedy, The Fabulous Lipitones on stage beginning November 18. The cast includes You Tube sensation Rohan Kymal, and Broadway veterans Donald Corren, Wally Dunn and Jim Walton. Michael Mastro (The Subject Was Roses) returns to helm the production, and Broadway veteran Michael Lichtefeld will put the quartet through their paces as choreographer.

Producers of the new political comedy Tail! Spin!, which opened to rave reviews on October 1 at the Lynn Redgrave Theater at Culture Project have announced a 9-week extension of the run, now scheduled through February 1. (The previous closing date was set for November 30.)

TV Host and Comic Skip E. Lowe Dies at 85

Skip E. Lowe, the comic, raconteur and perennial TV host whose weekly public access cable program has been airing in Los Angeles, New York and other major markets for more than 35 years--the longest in television history--and is generally credited as the inspiration for the Martin Short character “Jiminy Glick,” died in his home at Kingsley Manor Apartments in Hollywood on Monday, Sept. 22. He was 85 and had been suffering from emphysema and other respiratory ailments, though he never smoked, but blamed years of working as a comic in smoke-infested nightclubs. Lowe had conducted more than 6,000 interviews, often two a week, with guests that included Orson Welles and Bette Davis.
