The annual Educating for Justice gala sponsored by the John Jay College Foundation Board of Trustees raised over $800,000 gross - a record amount - and drew 325 friends and supporters of the College. Proceeds from the gala will support scholarships and programs that help students achieve their academic and career goals. Check out photos below!

John Jay College of Criminal Justice will honor Lin-Manuel Miranda, Grammy Award-winning composer, lyricist, performer, 2015 MacArthur Foundation Award recipient and 2016 Pulitzer Prize Winner for Drama, as part of its Educating for Justice Gala.
The special award and accompanying prize of $50,000 were presented to Miranda at a ceremony in New York City on December 14, 2015, and BroadwayWorld has a video of the presentation right here!

Earlier this year, Lin-Manuel Miranda held a benefit concert at the United Palace for Cultural Arts, In The Heights: In Concert which was presented by Viva Broadway, an initiative of The Broadway League that aims to promote Broadway theatre within the Latino Community. A surplus of ticket sales proceeds went towards The Broadway League's Family First Nights initiative - a nationwide program specifically designed to encourage economically disadvantaged families to attend theatre and local arts programs.
