Rachel York Sings 'For The Love Of It'

For the Love of It is an evening of stories and song in which York celebrates her love of singing and performing. She includes numbers made famous by early inspirations, favorite show tunes from her Broadway career, jazz and pop standards from her solo album, Let's Fall in Love, and a few surprises that touch her heart in a special way. Critics have hailed her cabaret as 'crowd pleasing and purely delicious,' 'a blissful night of entertainment,' and 'an experience not to be missed.' Cabaret Scenes called it 'perfection.'

Bob Mackie, the legendary fashion icon who has been hailed as the Sultan of Sequins and the Rajah of Rhinestones for his sparkling, visually stunning and imaginative costume designs, will be honored with the Inaugural Fashion Arts Charlie Award by the Hollywood Arts Council at their Black-Tie 30th Anniversary Gala and 22nd Annual Charlie Awards, emceed by KABC's George Pennachio, to be held at the Jim Henson Studios, the site of the original Charlie Chaplin Studios and home of the world-famous Muppets; 1416 North LaBrea Avenue (south of Sunset Boulevard and De Longpre Avenue); Hollywood, CA 90028 on Saturday, March 29, 2008. Mackie's Award will be presented by Golden Globe-nominated actress, Mitzi Gaynor. The event will be dedicated to the late Honorary Mayor of Hollywood, Johnny Grant.

The Hollywood Arts Council will celebrate its 30th Anniversary and present the 22nd Annual Charlie Awards at a Black-Tie, Red-Carpet Gala Event emceed by KABC Television's George Pennacchio. The event is open to the general public and will be held at the historic Jim Henson Studios, home of the original Charlie Chaplin Studios and the world famous Muppets on Saturday, March 29, 2008.
Producer Michael Abbott Dies at 81

Michael Abbott, a long-time television, film, and theatre producer who produced the first New York production of Stalag 17 in 1951, died of cancer on Thursday January 24, 2008 at Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan. He was 81.
