Last night, August 5, the ROCK OF AGES Broadway cast and members of the newly announced touring cast partied together at BB Kings in Times Square to live 80's tunes by Lipstick & Leather, in addition to additional rock band cover singers. Stiefel '7@7' reading series. The Village Theatre of Issaquah, Washington, where STUNT GIRL was first presented in 2005, has now reported that Brian Yorkey, bookwriter and lyricist of NEXT TO NORMAL and former artistic director of the Village Theatre, will direct the reading.
Monday, May 17, Tony Award nominee Brian d'Arcy James returned to the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musical Next to Normal for a special limited engagement. d'Arcy James was the original 'Dan Goodman' in the Second Stage Theatre off-Broadway production of the acclaimed musical, and took on the role of 'Shrek' in Shrek: The Musical as Next to Normal continued it's development in workshop and at the Arena Stage in Washington D.C.

Alice Ripley, who received the 2009 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her performance in the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning Next to Normal, will play her final Broadway performance on Sunday, July 18 at 7:30p.m. Ms. Ripley will reprise her acclaimed performance in the musical's entire 36-week multi-city North American tour, launching November 23 with a six-week engagement at the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles, followed by confirmed engagements in San Diego, Seattle, Des Moines, Providence, Hartford, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, St. Paul, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Charlotte, Washington, DC, and more cities to be announced in the near future.

Deadline.com is reporting that Sting and NEXT TO NORMAL's Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning writer and lyricist Brian Yorkey. Few details on the nature of the show have been revealed, however it is believed that it is inspired by Sting's memoir, Broken Music. The show, however, is allegedly not a autobiographical. No word on whether or not the score would be original.
