The 50th season of The Negro Ensemble Company, a year-long retrospective of some of the troupe's signature works, continues May 24 to June 10 at Theatre 80 St. Marks with 'Daughters of the Mock' by Judi Ann Mason.

This Spring, The Negro Ensemble Company, Inc. continues the celebration of its 50th Anniversary season, in which it is remounting classic plays of the company's past.

With unprecedented access, filmmakers Bob Hercules and Rita Coburn Whack trace Dr. Angelou's incredible journey, shedding light on the untold aspects of her life through never-before-seen footage, rare archival photographs and videos and her own words.

Last night, February 16, 2017, at a special preview event for the new documentary 'American Masters -- Maya Angelou: And Still I Rise' at The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture (New York, NY), Dr. Maya Angelou's grandson Colin Johnson, Co-Founder and Principal of Caged Bird Legacy, LLC, presented Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton and President Bill Clinton with a plaque of Dr. Maya Angelou's inauguration poem, 'On The Pulse of Morning,' that flew on the Orion Exploration Flight Test-1 (EFT-1) December 5, 2014. The HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME HONORS, a first-ever televised event, will air on The CW Network on November 23 (8:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT).

The 85th Annual Hollywood Christmas Parade Featuring Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, produced by Associated Television Internationaland presented in associations with The City of Los Angeles, will be led this year by award-winning singer, songwriter and actress Olivia Newton-John, who will serve as Grand Marshal, and will be joined by four other Former Grand Marshals of the Parade to help celebrate this historic occasion in style, including: Mickey Mouse, Larry King, Louis Gossett Jr. and Robert Wagner.

The season will include three more productions at Theatre 80 St. Marks and one at La MaMa.

Beginning in June 2016, The Negro Ensemble Company, Inc. (NEC) will deepen its commitment to discovery, development and presentation of superior theatre with four consecutive weekends of exciting and innovative productions showcasing up-and-coming Black playwrights. The Emerging Playwrights Competition is NEC's 2016 Pilot Project, marking NEC's return to the solid and impressive development and training format that established the company as an American theatre icon for over three decades.
