The Carlyle to Welcome Back Jim Caruso and Billy Stritch, 4/6-5/25

The Carlyle, a Rosewood Hotel, is pleased to welcome Jim Caruso & Billy Stritch back to Bemelmans Bar for an extended Sunday night residency. The upcoming performances will build upon their recent run of shows in the intimate, storied New York City lounge, favorites not only of music fans and critics, but also of fellow artists. Jim Caruso & Billy Stritch shows are a place where some of the city's foremost entertainers go to commune with their own-and sometimes sit-in for a song or two-on their nights off. The pair will be at Bemelmanswith their evening of swinging standards Sunday nights, April 6 - May 25.

Photo Coverage: Friars Club Honors Nicole Henry

Many show business greats have been honored by the Friars Club, and have performed before an audience of entertainment savvy members at the club house on 55th street. Nicole Henry was the latest addition to that list on Feb. 10. This great tradition was continued in the Frank Sinatra Dining Room with an event produced by Friar Historian Bruce Charet and co-produced by Friar Jeff Leibowitz. Singer/pianist Loston Harris was also on the bill. Rosario Dawson hosted the evening of great dining and great music.

Loston Harris Plays To Bemelmans Bar at The Carlyle Through December 31

Loston Harris returned to his residency at Bemelmans Bar at The Carlyle on October 22, 2013 with the New York City debut of his brand-new release Swingfully Yours (Magenta Label Group). The long awaited CD by the singer/songwriter features swinging arrangements of timeless standards from the Great American Songbook. George Gershwin, Harold Arlen and Sammy Cahn, to name a few, are all embraced.

If the walls of the Friars Club could tell their stories the history of show business would come to life. Luckily this history is accurately retold and chronicled by each generation of Friars. Friar Historian Bruce Charet, a member of the Board of Governors and Friar Mark Simone Admissions Committee Chairman started the evening off by telling the overflow audience in the Milton Berle Room that "Tonight the Friars is the Copa"!

Jazz at Lincoln Center Presents 'SWEET & LOW DOWN', 6/5-6 & 10

In the second annual presentation of Sweet & Low Down: How Popular Standards Became Jazz Classics, Director Michael Feinstein is joined by Tony Award-nominated actress Jessie Mueller (On a Clear Day You Can See Forever) and pianist Loston Harris. Concerts take place on Tuesday, June 5 and Wednesday, June 6 at 7:30pm. Jazz at Lincoln Center will present a special family matinee of Sweet & Low Down on Sunday, June 10 at 3pm.

BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON Visits Lincoln Center Barnes & Noble, 10/26

Barnes and Noble at Lincoln Center has announced an exciting line-up of Broadway guests for October. Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson will pay a visit to the store on October 26 at 4:30pm. The cast will be on hand to sign copies of the cast album and perform musical selections from the show.

Deborah Grace Winer Hosts 'Lyrics and Lyricists' at Y

Journalist and playwright Deborah Grace Winer was recently named Series Artistic Director of the 92nd Street Y's legendary American Songbook series Lyrics & Lyricists (beginning with the 2009 season). This month, she comes to the 92nd Street Y as host and artistic director of L&L's I've Got Your Number: Romance, the Rat Pack and Carolyn Leigh, which runs March 29-31. Winer's Carolyn Leigh tribute features vocalists Debby Boone, Loston Harris, James Naughton, and Karen Ziemba. John Oddo is music director, and Mark Waldrop is stage director.
