The Group Rep Announces 42nd Season

The Group Rep Co-Artistic Directors Larry Eisenberg and Chris Winfield have announced the company's exciting 42nd Season and the opening of a new performance space on the second floor of the Lonny Chapman Theatre in North Hollywood, CA. 

Playwright Lee Blessing Speaks at The Group Rep's THE WINNING STREAK This Weekend

Playwright LEE BLESSING will be attending The Group Rep's production of his play THE WINNING STREAK, today - August 8th at 2pm,guesting at the talk-back afterwards, at the Lonny Chapman Theatre, 10900Burbank Blvd., in North Hollywood 91601. The play opened last weekend to favorable reviews, runs  through August 30th, Todays at 2:00 PM and Sunday evenings at 7:00 PM.

Director Gregg T. Daniel returns to The Group Rep to direct Eric Simonson's critically acclaimed play LOMBARDI based on the book When Pride Still Mattered:  A Life of Vince Lombardi by Pulitzer Prize-winning author David Maraniss.  In our conversation, Gregg talks about the play, his fascination with the nature of greatness, and what he's been up to as a director. The Group Rep presents Eric Simonson's LOMBARDI based on the book When Pride Still Mattered: A Life of Vince Lombardi by Pulitzer Prize-winning author David Maraniss, directed by Gregg T. Daniel, produced by Drina Durazo.  We follow Green Bay Packers coach Lombardi through a week in the 1965 season, as he attempts to lead his team to the championship. This play is centered on an icon in American football, but at its core is a minefield of humanity; teaching, fathers & sons, facing seemingly insurmountable challenges, what makes a good leader and ultimately how the words we say to one another can inspire and change us. July 24 - Sept. 6.

Seven New Works Set for NMI's 15 Minute Musical Project, 6/29-7/1

One of the hottest tickets in Los Angeles every year is the inspiring 15-minute musicals developed at New Musicals Inc. There are seven musicals this year, having their world premiere on June 29, 30, and July 1 at the Lonny Chapman Theatre in North Hollywood. These musicals are a decades-long tradition at the NMI's Academy for New Musical Theatre.

BWW Interviews: FRAWLEY BECKER Discusses His Play Tiger by the Tail To Open Tonight at Group rep

FRAWLEY BECKER is a published book and short story author and a published and three-time prize-winning playwright. A man of many talents, he was a State Department Entertainment Director for military bases outside Paris during the Cold War, founded the first African-American theatre company within the U.S. military in 1959, formed Paris Playhouse in 1963 and was the first to professionally produce Edward Albee plays in France. For the next ten years he worked as a bilingual dialogue coach in films while living in Paris, coaching Audrey Hepburn, Peter O'Toole, Rex Harrison, Omar Sharif, Jacqueline Bisset, Ann-Margret, Samantha Eggar, Robert Ryan, Gene Wilder and all the Oompa-Loompas of the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Back in the U.S., Becker worked as a location manager for features including Jerry Maguire, Steel Magnolias, and the original Footloose, and TV movies for Oprah Winfrey Presents; and was a production executive at The Disney Studios. His award-winning, searing drama 'Tiger by the Tail' has its west coast premiere March 6 through April 19 at the Lonny Chapman Theatre in the NoHo Arts District of North Hollywood, CA. 86-Year-Young Comedian Jim MacGeorge to Appear at the Lonny Chapman Theatre thru 2/22

86-year-young veteran performer, Jim MacGeorge, wowed the audience with his jokes, stories, and celebrity impersonations last weekend while performing benefit shows for The Group Rep at the Lonny Chapman Theatre located at the edge of the NoHo Arts District in North Hollywood, CA. MacGeorge was rewarded with standing ovations after the shows.
