Legendary singer-actress Lainie Kazan and versatile performer Maurice Hines will be honored, along with 16 others, at the 28th Annual Bistro Awards gala, which recognizes outstanding achievement in New York cabaret, jazz, and comedy. The celebration will take place on Monday, March 4 at Gotham Comedy Club, 208 West 23rd Street (between 7th & 8th avenues).

Jeff Harnar, one of the most celebrated performers of the American Popular Songbook, will return to The Laurie Beechman Theatre in the show 'Does This Song Make Me Look Fat? Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will continue its latest Road to Hollywood tour around the country with a stop in New York City, where TCM, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and Verizon FiOS will present a free public screening of the groundbreaking musical Cabaret (1972). Four of the film's stars - Liza Minnelli, Joel Grey, Michael York and Marisa Berenson - will join TCM host Robert Osborne on stage to introduce the 40th anniversary restoration of the film. The event is set to take place Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Manhattan's famous Ziegfeld Theatre, where Cabaret first premiered.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, West End star Julian Ovenden will guest star in the second season of SMASH, and according to TVLine, he will play another one of Marilyn's love interests. Ovenden's character 'Simon' will play JFK to Karen's Marilyn Monroe.

NBC and Columbia Records announced that the soundtrack for Bombshell, the musical within NBC's Golden Globe-nominated series television hit 'SMASH' (Tuesdays, 10-11pm ET), will be released on February 12. Bombshell is available now for pre-order.

This past October, the Bucks County Playhouse (BCP) and Newtown Arts Company announced the return of the famed student theater festival competition to the newly reopened Playhouse next spring after an absence of two years. The BCP Student Theater Festival, produced by Newtown Arts Company and the Playhouse, will be open to participating middle and high schools.
