The circus is in town and I ain't talking about Barnum & Bailey! The national tour of the 2013 revival of PIPPIN made its way to the Bayou City and I'm hippopotamusly happy to see this tour! When creative geniuses such as Bob Fosse and Stephen Schwartz are at the helm of the original material, there's no denying that a musical theatre maven such as myself would be overzealous.

On Tuesday, November 3, Britain's award-winning diva makes her US debut in 'Diva Breakdown' at Martinis Above Fourth. Although La Voix hasn't performed in the US, she's well-known to American audiences from her many performances on Atlantis Cruises and in London. 'Diva Breakdown' will explore the minds of true legends; Judy Garland, Liza Minnelli, Shirley Bassey, Tina Turner, Cher and more analyzed, exposed, and satirically delivered, in her own spine-tingling vocals, by the international red-headed diva, La Voix. After playing to full houses in Toronto and Montreal, critically-acclaimed Canadian performer Ryan G. Hinds (Hedwig & the Angry Inch; MacArthur Park Suite, A Disco Ballet; Starry Notions) makes his New York City cabaret debut at Don't Tell Mama's with #KanderAndEbb, a uniquely personal musical exploration of the John Kander/Fred Ebb canon.

The National Arts Club at 15 Gramercy Park South in New York City will present Bentley Meeker's solo show '186,282' from October 26th through November 7th. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

For the third night of this year's Cabaret Convention at Town Hall, the uber-enthusiastic Karen Mason hosted Life Is a Cabaret (Directed by Barry Kleinbort) in celebration of long time collaborators, composer John Kander and lyricist Fred Ebb. Introduced to each other by their mutual music publisher in 1962, the team's first Broadway show was 1965's Flora the Red Menace in which Liza Minnelli made her Broadway debut and with which the three began a long association. Their last together (Kander is alive and hopefully writing), was 2015's The Visit starring Chita Rivera, a production Ebb (who died in 2004) unfortunately didn't live to see. Kander and Ebb's best known musicals are Cabaret and Chicago, both of which seem to run forever on popular appeal, but they wrote many others, a wide selection of which were represented at Thursday night's show.

Terri White, whose career has spanned over 40 years in show business tonight announced her farewell from live performing.

Barbara Cook's Spotlight series, in its ninth season at the Kennedy Center this year, features Terri White tonight, October 16, 2015; Randy Graff on October 30, 2015; Michele Lee on November 6, 2015; John Lloyd Young on November 20, 2015; and Frances Ruffelle on March 25, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Terrace Theater.

Parlor Night strikes again! Were you there for the latest Broadway pop-up party? This time, the intimate evening was hosted at the luscious Upper East Side townhouse of John Demsey (Group President of Estee Lauder). The Off-Broadway cast recording of the new Bock and Harnick musical, Rothschild & Sons, an intimate reimagining of the Tony nominated musical The Rothschilds, will be recorded and released by JAY Records.  Produced by John Yap, the recording will feature the original cast of The York Theatre Company production who will gather at The Avatar Studios on Monday, October 26, 2015 to lay down the tracks for the recording scheduled for release on JAY Records in early January.  Executive Producers are John Yap and Arnold Mittelman.
