Tony Award-winning composer and musician Duncan Sheik (Spring Awakening, American Psycho) will share stories and perform songs for an exclusive audience at the April 21st installment of Live From 16 Gramercy Park, the intimate, members-only music series at The Players, the historic private social club for actors and artists.

The NEXT STOP BROADWAY program, presented by the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) Monday through Friday, August 14 - 18, 2017, will consist of classes, workshops, and rehearsals focused on classic Broadway shows. 

The last time comic/actor Mario Cantone ('Sex in the City,' Assassins) and actor, songwriter, and director Jerry Dixon (If/Then, Once on This Island, tick, tick...BOOM!) teamed up, they created Laugh Whore, Cantone's wickedly entertaining and Tony-nominated one-man show-turned-Showtime special.

Just last night, the record-breaking hit musical Chicago celebrated composer John Kander's 90th birthday at the Ambassador Theatre. Mr Kander was in the house for the special night, which featured surprise appearances by Colman Domingo, Joel Grey, James Naughton, Bebe Neuwirth, Chita Rivera and Karen Ziemba.

Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival (Patrick Mulcahy, Producing Artistic Director, and Casey Wm. Gallagher, Managing Director) announced today that Tony Award-winning actor and world-renowned opera singer Paulo Szot will star in Evita at Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival this summer. Mr. Szot will play the role of Juan Peron opposite Broadway star Dee Roscioli who, as previously announced, will play the title role of Eva Peron.

Award-winning music producer, critic and translator Lawrence Schulman will give a talk on Judy Garland, entitled "Moments of Magic," at Witherle Memorial Library in Castine, Maine on Monday, June 19, 2017 at 2 P.M. Admission is free. The one-and-a-quarter hour talk will examine Judy Garland's life and career, and feature nine audio-video clips, to be followed by a question and answer. Schulman will endeavor to answer the question: "If I had just one hour to convince you of Judy Garland's place in classic American popular music, what film and television performances would I choose?"

Jamie deRoy's Friar Membership and her long running Jamie deRoy & friends Variety Show are about the same age.  Jamie became a member in 1988 along with Liza Minnelli, Joan Rivers and Brooke Shields.  Jamie brought this edition of the show to the Friars Club last night and the Frank Sinatra Dining Room was filled with Friars and Jamie's friends as they dined and were entertained by some of the best in the business.
