Lawrence Schulman To Speak On Judy Garland At Jesup Memorial Library, Bar Harbor, Maine, 6/6

Chicago comedian and kates creator Kelsie Huff hosts the all-female comedy showcase at the legendary comedy club, The Improv. the kates, a ten-year comedy showcase created by Kelsie Huff and featuring the funniest female stand-ups in Chicago, perform at the Chicago Improv on Jan. 25th 7:30pm for One Night Only! Why all ladies? Why not!

Award-winning music producer, critic and translator Lawrence Schulman, who lives on Mount Desert Island, Maine, will give a talk on Judy Garland, entitled Moments of Magic, at Piper Shores in Scarborough, Maine on Monday, April 30, 2018 at 3 P.M. Admission is free. The one-and-a-quarter hour talk will examine Judy Garland's life and career, and feature nine audio-video clips, to be followed by a question and answer. Schulman will endeavor to answer the question: If I had about one hour to convince you of Judy Garland's place in classic American popular music, what film and television performances would I choose?

Maestro Luke Frazier and The American Pops Orchestra - Washington, DC's innovative hometown orchestra - will continue their star-studded third season with Around the World in 80 Days, the world premiere of a new family-oriented musical written by Claybourne Elder ('Gossip Girl,' Broadway's Sunday in the Park...) and directed by Kelly Crandall d'Amboise.

Six-time GRAMMY Award-winner, Golden Globe Award-winner and Academy Award-nominee superstar entertainer Lady Gaga will bring her one-of-a-kind talent and creativity to the stage at Park Theater at Park MGM in Las Vegas beginning in December 2018.

The flare and pageantry of 20 drummers from the Brooklyn United Marching Band, and an electric performance by Vy Higginsen's Sing Harlem Choir, will open this year's Kwanzaa Celebration. Artistic Director of Yaffa Cultural Arts Dr. Linda H. Humes will take visitors through the core principles of Kwanzaa, followed by gospel-infused tunes from a cappella legends The Persuasions.
