WaterTower Theatre Producing Artistic Director Terry Martin today announced the cast for Spunk running through May 4, 2014 on the Main Stage at the Addison Theatre Centre. Directed by Akin Babatunde, the cast features Liz Mikel (Blues Speak Woman) and Joshua Bridgewater, Tiffany Denise Hobbs, Marcus Mauldin, and Calvin Roberts as The Folk. Directed by Akin Babatunde, the cast features Liz Mikel (Blues Speak Woman), Tim Clifton (Guitar Man), and Joshua Bridgewater, Tiffany Denise Hobbs, Marcus Mauldin, and Calvin Roberts as The Folk.

WaterTower Theatre's 2014 Spotlight Gala will be held tonight, February 22, 2014 at 7 pm. The Gala is chaired by Barbara Daseke. The committee chairs are April Bosworth, Live and Silent Auction Chair; Derek Blount, Underwriting Chair and Corky Pledger, Cuisine Chair. The theme for this year's Gala is 'What the World Needs Now: A Tribute to Burt Bacharach.' Singer/Actress Liz Mikel will perform an evening of well-known Bacharach hits along with some very 'special friends.'

Dallas Theater Center brings a brand new adaptation of the Dickens classic A Christmas Carol to the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre at the AT&T Performing Arts Center for the first time. DTC Artistic Director Kevin Moriarty wrote the new adaptation and will direct the holiday favorite, with choreography by Joel Ferrell. A Christmas Carol makes its Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre debut on November 21 and runs through December 24. The Chorus includes Jessi Little, Mallory Michaellann, Thomas Renner and Darius-Anthony Robinson.

LYSISTRATA JONES had its New York premiere in a critically acclaimed Off-Broadway production at The Gym at Judson. It transferred to Broadway and opened at the Walter Kerr Theatre on December 14, 2011. Living in Houston, this show was not even a blip on my radar. Having been a longtime reader of BroadwayWorld, the name was familiar, but I didn't know anything about the show. With the June 14, 2013 announcement that a film adaptation is in the works, I felt compelled to track down a copy of the Original Cast Album and give the quirky comedy at least a few listens.

Artes de la Rosa presents the Fort Worth Premiere of the Tony award winning musical, In the Heights. Directed by artistic director Adam Adolfo, the Lin Manuel Miranda musical will run tonight, May 17 - June 9 at The Rose Marine Theatre. Previously announced star, Matthew Ransdell, who will play Usnavi, will be joined by costars Sarah Marie Dickerson as Vanessa, Joshua Sherman as Benny, and Lorens Portalatin as Nina. Also starring as Grafitti Pete is Michael Anthony Sylvester and Rashaun Sibley as Sonny, both of whom are making their Artes de la Rosa debut.

Dallas Theater Center announced today that Brierley Resident Acting Company member Liz Mikel and former Company member Cedric Neal will headline Centerstage 2013 tonight, May 11. Co-chaired by Rusty Duvall and Deborah McMurray, with honorary chairs Diane and Hal Brierley, Centerstage 2013 will take place at the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre, which will be transformed for the evening.

Dallas Theater Center hosts the fourth annual Skokos Learning Lab Showcase, the culmination of the Ted and Shannon Skokos Learning Lab collaboration between DTC and Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (BTW), on Saturday, April 27 in the Studio Theatre at the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre. The performance is free and open to the general public. No tickets are required.
