In a time when issues of immigration, assimilation, xenophobia, and socio-economic upheaval are more present than ever, the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene will bring to the stage a reimagined version of Moishe Rosenfeld and Zalmen Mlotek's Amerike-The Golden Land, a musical journey of the immigration experience. Playing at the Museum of Jewish Heritage, across from the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, from which the story has taken inspiration, this limited Off Broadway engagement opened last night and will run through August 6th. The National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF) presents KulturfestNYC, the international festival of Jewish performing arts, that attracted 50K+ attendees in one week in its June 2015 inaugural year, and this year returns for three months, from June 6 to August 29. With over three-dozen separate events in venues across the city, the summer-long festival welcomes artists and groups from France, Romania, Japan, Israel, Russia and the U.S.

CUNY TV's ARTS IN THE CITY, hosted by Magalie Laguerre-Wilkinson from El Museo del Barrio in Manhattan, celebrates the holidays beginning Friday, Dec. 12 (2014) at 10am, 3pm and 8:30pm on CUNY TV*. The show is repeated Sunday 12/14 at noon and returns Friday 12/26 at 10am, 3pm and 8:30pm and on Sunday 12/28 at noon. On and after Dec. 12, the program may be viewed anytime on www.cuny.tv.
