“Queen Sugar,” the critically acclaimed drama series from Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Ava DuVernay (“A Wrinkle in Time,” “13th,” “Selma”), executive producer Oprah Winfrey and Warner Horizon Scripted Television, returns for its fourth season on OWN Wednesday, June 12 (9 p.m. ET/PT). Continuing a creative initiative established in the show's first season, series creator/executive producer DuVernay has once again assembled an all-female directing team for the fourth consecutive season. Domestic Television Distribution for select seasons of The Bachelor. According to Deadline, actress Ashley Park has signed on to join new a new ABC comedy pilot as a series regular. As previously reported, the series comes from RICK AND MORTY writer Jessica Gao. In addition to Park, the pilot will also star Holly Chou, Cindy Cheung, Stephen Park, Kelly Hu, Helen Hong, Ki Hong Lee and John Gemberling.

Charter Communications' premium content initiative, Spectrum Originals, has picked up the limited series “Mad About You.” The Sony Pictures Television- produced series will include original cast, as Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt will reprise their roles as Paul and Jamie Buchman. Peter Tolan is tapped to be the showrunner, and Helen Hunt will direct the first episode. Danny Jacobson, who co-created the show with Reiser will serve as an executive consultant. The series is scheduled to launch in late 2019.
Lionsgate and Producer Scott Delman (President, Blue Spruce Productions) announced today that the beloved Lionsgate and ABC Studios television series Nashville, a hit for six seasons on ABC, CMT and Hulu, is being adapted as a Broadway musical. Delman, a 10-time Tony Award® winner who will serve as lead producer, has acquired the live theatrical rights from Lionsgate and ABC Studios, which co-produced and distributed the television show. Casting has been announced for Nancy Medina's forthcoming production of Inua Ellams' new play The Half-God of Rainfall. Rakie Ayola (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) will play Modupe, mother to her half-god son Demi who will be played by Kwami Odoom (Barber Shop Chronicles). This world premiere production will be directed by Nancy Medina, designed by Max Johns, with movement direction by Imogen Knight, sound design by Tanuja Amarasuriya, lighting design by Jackie Shemesh and casting by Briony Barnett.
Starz, a Lionsgate company (NYSE: LGF.A, LGF.B), today announced the series development of “Kin,” a multi-generational family drama from writer Davita Scarlett (“Queen Sugar,” “Constantine”) and Hello Sunshine. Reese Witherspoon (“Big Little Lies,” Gone Girl, Wild) and Lauren Neustadter (“Are You Sleeping”) will serve as executive producers for Hello Sunshine alongside Scarlett who developed the project with Chester Jones III (“Hey Diddle Diddle”).
