STAGE TUBE: Highlights from MISS SAIGON at the Paramount Theatre

Love, loss and the ultimate sacrifice...be a part of Paramount Theatre's remarkable, emotionally charged staging of Miss Saigon, one of the most epic productions of modern musical theater. Directed by Paramount Theatre Artistic Director Jim Corti, Miss Saigon is the second installment in the Paramount's 'Better than Broadway' 2013-14 Broadway series. Performances begin in just five weeks for the third annual Next Up, continuing Steppenwolf Theatre Company's commitment to Chicago's next generation of theater artists. Next Up features three productions presented in rotating repertory, in collaboration with Northwestern University's MFA programs in Direction and Design. Next Up 2013 showcases the work of graduates of those programs with casts of professional Chicago actors-including nine alumni of the School at Steppenwolf: Fat Pig by Neil LaBute, directed by David Prete; The Drunken City by Adam Bock, directed by Johnny Michael DiResta; and The Internationalist by Anne Washburn, directed by Erin Murray. OSF Opens 2013 Season on February 22

The Tony Award-winning Oregon Shakespeare Festival's 2013 preview performances begin February 15, and the season will open Friday night, February 22 with Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew, directed by David Ivers. On Saturday, August Wilson's Two Trains Running, directed by Lou Bellamy, takes the stage, as does Lerner and Loewe's classic American musical My Fair Lady, directed by Amanda Dehnert. Sunday afternoon in the Thomas Theatre, Shakespeare's King Lear opens, directed by OSF Artistic Director Bill Rauch.

Court Theatre Re-Imagines JAMES JOYCE'S THE DEAD, 11/8-12/9

Court Theatre Artistic Director Charles Newell and Executive Director Stephen J. Albert present James Joyce's "The Dead," with book by Richard Nelson, music by Shaun Davey, lyrics conceived and adapted by Richard Nelson and Shaun Davey, and directed by Charles Newell with musical direction by Doug Peck. "The Dead" will run November 8 - December 9, 2012 at Court Theatre, 5535 S. Ellis Avenue. The press opening is Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 8:00 p.m.

Review - The Mobile Shakespeare Unit's Richard III

Before a frustrated New York City Parks Commissioner Robert Moses grumbled, 'Well, let's build the bastard a theater,' and designated city funds to build the Delacorte, Joseph Papp's dream of bringing free Shakespeare to everyone was being achieved by mobile units of actors that toured the city in small scale productions.  Now in its second year, The Public Theater's Mobile Shakespeare Unit has been recreating that experience for audiences that free Shakespeare In The Park cannot reach.

The Public Theater Begins Previews 8/6 for RICHARD III

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Patrick Willingham) will begin previews on Monday, August 6 for The Mobile Shakespeare Unit's RICHARD III, directed by Amanda Dehnert. Following a three-week tour, bringing free Shakespeare to audiences who have limited or no access to the arts, RICHARD III will run at The Public Theater through Saturday, August 25, with an official press opening on Saturday, August 11. Tickets are $15 and on sale now.

Public Theater to Tour RICHARD III This July

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Patrick Willingham) will take its MOBILE SHAKESPEARE UNIT on tour again this July with a production of RICHARD III, directed by Amanda Dehnert. The three-week tour, July 16 to August 3, will bring free Shakespeare to audiences who have limited or no access to the arts before a sit-down run at The Public Theater, August 6-25. Tickets for Richard III at The Public are $15 and go on sale July 12.

BROADWAY BOUND stars Jeff Award and Drama Desk Award winner Mike Nussbaum as 'Ben' (Glengarry Glen Ross on Broadway, The Merchant of Venice at Chicago Shakespeare); Jeff Award and Sarah Siddons Award winner Carmen Roman (National Tour of Angels in America) as 'Kate,' reprising the role she played in the 2004 Peninsula Players production of BROADWAY BOUND; and multi-Jeff Award recipient and Sarah Siddons Award winner Paula Scrofano as 'Blanche' (Thoroughly Modern Millie at Drury Lane Theatre, The Most Happy Fella at Ravinia Festival, The Wizard of Oz at Chicago Shakespeare, and Sunday in the Park with George at Goodman Theatre). The production is directed by David New, multi-Jeff Award nominee, Sarah Siddons Award winner and former Associate Artistic Director at Steppenwolf Theatre.
