BWW Interview: Laura Benanti at David A Straz Center For The Performing Arts

Tony Award winning powerhouse Laura Benanti is scheduled to appear in her one-woman cabaret at the Straz Center in Tampa on February 11. Celebrated for her impression of Melania Trump on Stephen Colbert's Late Show, Miss Benanti played Louise in the 2008 Broadway revival of Gypsy, winning the Tony Award, and appeared in the stage musical Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown in 2010, winning the Drama Desk Award and Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical. She played Baroness Elsa Schrader in the 2013 NBC television production of The Sound of Music Live! and in 2015 began playing twin sisters Alura and Astra in the TV series Supergirl. Laura is also performing with her mother, talented actress and singer Linda Benanti, in a musical celebration of family titled, Laura and Linda Benanti: The Story Goes On.

It's a family affair when Broadway leading lady Laura Benanti returns to Landmark , this time joined by mom Linda Benanti a former Broadway actress in her own right , for their new hit revue, The Story Continues, at the Jeanne Rimsky stage on Saturday, April 14 at 8 PM.

Laura Benanti to Strip Again for PLAYBOY CLUB Pilot?

As previously reported by BroadwayWorld, Laura Benanti will star in NBC's drama pilot 'Playboy Club.' Benanti will star as Carol-Lynne, a 30-year-old Playboy star. Now Variety reports that the pilot's actors had to sign nudity clauses, which state: 'nudity as defined above and/or simulated sex acts may be required in connection with player's services in the pilot and/or series.'

Deadline.com is reporting that 'Laura Benanti is set to star in NBC's drama pilot Playboy. The project, from 20th TV/Imagine TV, is set at the Playboy Club in Chicago in 1963. Benanti will play Carol-Lynne, a 30-year-old bombshell and an established star at the Playboy Club who knows that her days as a Bunny are numbered.'
