FRESTYLE LOVE SUPREME Returns to LCT3's Clair Tow Theater Tonight

Lincoln Center Theater presents an LCT3 Special Event - Freestyle Love Supreme, the popular live improvised show, will return for an encore engagement at the Claire Tow Theater (150 West 65th Street). Freestyle Love Supreme will play 4 performances only, tonight, May 1st and tomorrow, May 2nd at 7pm and 9pm.

International City Theatre's OTHER DESERT CITIES to Run 6/6-29

The manicured life of an actor-turned-politician and his impeccable wife is upset when relatives arrive at their Palm Springs home for the holidays - including daughter Brooke who's about to publish a tell-all memoir. caryn desai [sic] directs Jon Robin Baitz's Other Desert Cities, opening June 6 at International City Theatre in the Long Beach Performing Arts Center. Two low-priced previews take place on June 4 and June 5.

Two River Theater Announces 2014-15 Season, Featuring New Play Written and Helmed by Ruben Santiago-Hudson

Two River Theater, under the leadership of Artistic Director John Dias and Managing Director Michael Hurst, announces the lineup of productions for its 2014/15 Season. The year will include world-premiere plays and musicals that have been developed at the theater, including Your Blues Ain't Sweet Like Mine, a new play written and directed by Tony Award-winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson; and Be More Chill, a musical by Joe Iconis and Joe Tracz, adapted from the novel by Ned Vizzini and directed by Scott Ellis. The season will also include a range of world masterpieces and American classics, and work for audiences ages three and up

BWW REVIEWS: Sumptuous Sights and Sounds Make “The Sound of Music” Thrilling at Lyric Opera of Chicago

I hardly know where to begin in describing the beautiful, world-class, but dramatically uneven production of the beloved and immortal 'The Sound of Music' that opened at the Civic Opera House over the weekend. All the resources of Lyric Opera of Chicago have been brought to bear on a brand-new production of a title that is known throughout the world, and the result is occasionally thrilling--a feast for the eyes, and usually one for the ears as well.

LCT3 to Present BROWNSVILLE SONG (B-SIDE FOR TRAY), 10/4-11/16

LCT3, Lincoln Center Theater's initiative devoted to producing the work of new artists and engaging new audiences, will produce the New York premiere of brownsville song (b-side for tray), a new play by Kimber Lee, this fall. The production, to be directed by Patricia McGregor, will begin performances Saturday, October 4, running for six weeks only through Sunday, November 16 at the Claire Tow Theater (150 West 65 Street). Opening night is Monday, October 20.

LCT's Platform Series to Continue with Anthony Giardina & Doug Hughes, 5/1

Lincoln Center Theater's Platform Series, a forum for public discussion between Lincoln Center Theater artists and interested theatergoers, continues its 16th season on Thursday, May 1 at 6 pm with ANTHONY GIARDINA and DOUG HUGHES, the playwright and director, respectively, of THE CITY OF CONVERSATION, currently in previews at the Mitzi E. Berkeley Repertory Theatre to Present Tony Kushner's 'THE INTELLIGENT HOMOSEXUAL'S GUIDE', Begin. 5/16

Berkeley Repertory Theatre welcomes back Pulitzer Prize winner Tony Kushner for the West Coast premiere of his latest play, The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide to Capitalism and Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures, an epic tale of love, family, sex, money, and politics. Kushner reunites with one of his favorite collaborators, Michael Leibert Artistic Director Tony Taccone, to bring this sweeping drama to the Roda Theatre. With his trademark mix of soaring intellect and searing emotion, the legendary writer unfurls a poignant story about an Italian family in Brooklyn. When retired longshoreman Gus Marcantonio decides to die, his kids come home with a raucous parade of lovers and spouses to find that even the house keeps secrets. A portrait of a dysfunctional family filled with weighty dialogue, humor, and passion, Kushner's four-act play previews Friday, May 16, opens on Wednesday, May 21, and runs through Sunday, June 29, 2014.

2014 Drama League Award Nominations Announced - Shows, Stars & More!

Co-Hosts Judith Light and Christopher Sieber announced the nominations for the 2014 Drama League Awards, including Distinguished Production of a Play, Distinguished Production of a Musical, Distinguished Revival of a Play, Distinguished Revival of a Musical, and the much coveted Distinguished Performance Award. The 2014 Drama League Nomination announcement begins the month of celebrations leading up to the 80th Annual Drama League Awards, which will be held at the Marriott Marquis Times Square (1535 Broadway) on Friday, May 16, 2014 at noon hosted by Broadway veteran Jesse Tyler Ferguson.

Writers Theatre to Premiere DAYS LIKE TODAY, 5/6-7/13

Artistic Director Michael Halberstam and Executive Director Kathryn M. Lipuma announce Writers Theatre's World Premiere production of Days Like Today, with music and lyrics by Alan Schmuckler and book by Laura Eason, directed by Artistic Director Michael Halberstam, music direction by Doug Peck and choreography by Tommy Rapley. The production runs May 6-July 13, 2014 at 325 Tudor Court, Glencoe. The press opening is May 22, 2014 at 7:30pm.

Jennifer Zetlan to Step in for Kiera Duffy in NO. 42 IN THE ALPS at Carnegie Hall, 4/27

Carnegie Hall today announced that soprano Jennifer Zetlan has agreed to step in for Kiera Duffy on Sunday, April 27 at 6:00 p.m., performing the U.S. premiere of composer Richard Ayres's No. 42 In the Alps with contemporary music group Alarm Will Sound at Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall. Ms. Duffy is unable to appear due to illness.

The cast features Bob Ari, Bill Army, Will Brill, Laurel Casillo, Chuck Cooper, Santino Fontana, Steven Kaplan, Will LeBow, Mimi Lieber,Charlotte Maier, Noah Marlowe, Andrea Martin, Greg McFadden, Deborah Offner, Lance Roberts,Matthew Saldivar, Matthew Schechter, Tony Shalhoub, Jonathan Spivey, Wendy Rich Stetson, Bob Stillman and Amy Warren. Yale Rep Stages World Premiere of THE HOUSE THAT WILL NOT STAND, Now thru 5/10

Yale Repertory Theatre, in a co-production with Berkeley Repertory Theatre, presents the world premiere of The House that will not Stand by Marcus Gardley, directed by Patricia McGregor. The House that will not Stand will be performed at Yale Repertory Theatre (1120 Chapel Street) today, April 18-May 10. Opening Night is Thursday, April 24.
