Gotham Chamber Opera to Stage BADEN-BADEN 1927, 10/23-29

Gotham Chamber Opera presents the U.S. Stage Premiere of Baden-Baden 1927: a staged evening of four one-act operas that appeared together at the Baden-Baden Festival in 1927, from October 23-29, 2013 at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater.

Gotham Chamber Opera, in collaboration with Works & Process at the Guggenheim presents selections from Daniel Catán's 1988 opera, La hija de Rappaccini (Rappaccini's Daughter), in A Musical Journey, From Venice to Tuscany and back again 1851-1991 onAugust 26, 2013 at 9pm at the Courtyard at Guggenheim-Venice.

Strawdog Theatre Company's 2013 - 2014 season opens with Conversations on a Homecoming by Tom Murphy, now through September 28, directed by Jonathan Berry, 3829 N. Broadway Street. Preview performance tickets are $15 with performances continuing Aug. 23 and 25. There is a Board Preview performance, Saturday, Aug. 24 at 7 p.m., with $50 tickets that include access to a post-performance reception. Opening/Press Night is Monday, Aug. 26 at 8 p.m. Industry Night is Monday, Sept. 9 at 8 p.m. BroadwayWorld has new shots of the cast in onstage below!

Strawdog Theatre Company and Interim Artistic Director Hank Boland are proud to announce the 2013 - 2014 season opens with Conversations on a Homecoming by Tom Murphy, August 16 - September 28, directed by Jonathan Berry, 3829 N. Broadway Street. Preview performance tickets are $15 with performances Friday, Aug. 16 and Aug. 23 and Saturday, Aug, 17 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 25 at 4 p.m.

David Lang's THE WHISPER OPERA and More Set for Lincoln Center's 2013 Mostly Mozart Festival This Week

The third week of the 2013 Mostly Mozart Festival continues with opera performances, both classic and contemporary. Following their acclaimed 2011 Festival production of Don Giovanni, the Budapest Festival Orchestra (BFO) returns to Mostly Mozart with a new production of Mozart's masterwork comic opera Le nozze di Figaro. The final two Festival performances of this great work take place at the Rose Theater in Jazz at Lincoln Center's Frederick P. Rose Hall at the Time Warner Center tonight, August 13 and August 15, each at 7pm.

NY International Fringe Festival Presents TRUTH, An American Opera about Sojourner Truth

Once in a Blue Moon Music is proud to present the New York City premiere of TRUTH, An American Opera about Sojourner Truth as a part of the 17th annual New York International Fringe Festival - FringeNYC. TRUTHilluminates the dynamic life and legacy of Sojourner Truth, a complicated, brilliant woman who escaped slavery to become an African-American abolitionist, women's rights activist and a relentless and articulate champion for freedom and justice. The fourth opera by composer Paula M. Kimper (Patience & Sarah), stars soprano Mari-Yan Pringle as Truth, and the ensemble of five singers and seven-piece orchestra conducted by the composer brings to life this American heroine of extraordinary scope in this chamber version of the opera. The remaining performances take place at Theatre 80, 80 St. Marks Place between 1st and 2nd Avenues on Monday, August 12 at 4:15 p.m.; Friday, August 16 at 7:45 p.m.; Saturday, August 17 at 9:15pm; and Sunday, August 25 at 5:45 p.m. (No late seating.) MONKEY: JOURNEY TO THE WEST Begins Final Two Weeks at Lincoln Center Festival; Ends 7/28

MONKEY: JOURNEY TO THE WEST, an extraordinary music-theater collaboration based on the classic Chinese folktale 'Journey to the West' from 1592, begins its final two weeks of performances as part of the 2013 Lincoln Center Festival tonight at the David H. Koch Theater. MONKEY: JOURNEY TO THE WEST is conceived and directed by internationally renowned opera and film director Chen Shi-Zheng, with music by Damon Albarn, lead singer of Blur, and design and animation by award-winning artist Jamie Hewlett, who, with Albarn, created the virtual band Gorillaz. The limited engagement began performances on Sunday, July 6 and will play its final performance Sunday, July 28.

Gotham Chamber Opera Announces Composer in Residence Program, Applications Due 7/18

Gotham Chamber Opera together with Opera Philadelphia and Music-Theatre Group is proud to announce the third track in the nation's first comprehensive, operatic Composer In Residence program. Funded initially by a $1.4 million grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the program has received an additional $330,000 from the foundation to provide a third professional development path for one of today's most promising opera composers, selected on a competitive basis. Applications are being accepted from June 20-July 18, 2013.

Juilliard Drama to Feature GREAT GOD PAN, BURIED CHILD & More in 2013-2014 Season

Juilliard's Drama Division announces the 2013-2014 season of fully-staged productions featuring Juilliard's 43rd group of acting students in their fourth and final year in the drama program at Juilliard. This season's plays include Jeffrey Hatcher's Smash, directed by Victor Pappas; Amy Herzog's The Great God Pan, directed by Maria Mileaf; and Sam Shepard's Buried Child, directed by Daniel Fish. All performances take place in the Stephanie P. McClelland Drama Theater at Juilliard.

Mostly Mozart Festival 2013 at Lincoln Center: Final Week Features Emerson String Quartet & More!

The 2013 Mostly Mozart Festival comes to a close in its fourth week, with more than 10 events taking place between August 19 and August 24. The final week begins with a special chamber music concert by the celebrated Emerson String Quartet, 7:00pm on August 19 at Alice Tully Hall. The ensemble, which made its first Festival appearance in 1983 and has performed nearly every season since that time, makes its highly anticipated first New York City appearance with its newest member, cellist Paul Watkins. The Emerson String Quartet will add to the Festival's overarching focus on Beethoven by performing all three of Beethoven's famed "Razumovsky" Quartets: String Quartet in F major, Op. 59; String Quartet in E minor, Op. 59; and String Quartet in C major, Op. 59.

Alan Cumming's MACBETH Ends Broadway Run Today
