Pigs do Fly Productions will return to Ft. Lauderdale's Empire Stage with Flying High!, the second production of their second season, from October 9th through October 25th. There will be a preview performance tonight, October 8th.

Three Cat Productions celebrates Chicago based performers with Cabaret on the Lake. Cabaret on the Lake is a free, monthly variety show giving singers, storytellers, comedians, performance artists, musicians, dancers, poets, and solo artists of every type a place to develop their work. Held the 2nd Friday of the month at the Berger Park Cultural Center (6205 N Sheridan Road), experienced performers split the bill with artists learning their craft or trying new material for the first time. This month's event will be held on Friday, October 9 at 7:30pm. Tickets are free. Hosted by Rob Dorn - singer, storyteller, national Broadway musical theater tour veteran, and Green Mill regular.

Aristophanes' classic comedy has been reimagined into Lysistrata: A Woman's Translation by Drue Robinson. The Bonstelle Theatre is excited to kick off their season with this bawdy and hilarious translation, playing October 9 through October 18, 2015. Oscar and Tony Award winner Mercedes Ruehl (The Fisher King, Lost in Yonkers) now brings 'The Empress of Fashion' back in FULL GALLOP. Written by Mark Hampton and Mary Louise Wilson and directed by Andrew Russell, FULL GALLOP runs now through October 25, 2015, with opening night tonight, October 1 at 8:00 p.m., in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center.

Dixon Place's dance commission, Mark Dendy Project's WHISTLEBLOWER, written, choreographed and directed by Bessie and Obie award winner Mark Dendy, will have its world premiere tonight, September 11th at 7:30 PM. With his company of dancers and original music by Heather Christian, Dendy, explores the actions and sexual orientation of renowned dissident Bradley/Chelsea Manning.

Six exciting performances have been added to the roster of  the McCallum Theatre's 2015-2016 season, including Bill Maher, Hank and My Honky Tonk Heroes Starring Jason Petty, Last Comic Standing, Canadian superstar Jesse Cook, Wynonna and The Big Noise and the triumphant McCallum return of 2CELLOS.  Brochures with these added performances and the entire season should reach local mailboxes by the second week of September. Dorset Theatre Festival's 2015 New Play Reading Series concludes on Monday, August 24th with Kate Moira Ryan's Hipsterly Ever After. Ryan is a New York-based playwright whose play The Beebo Brinker Chronicles, produced off-Broadway by Lily Tomlin and Jane Wagner, won a GLAAD Award. She was also a finalist for the Susan Smith Blackburn prize for her play Hadley's Mistake. She has received numerous fellowships including the Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship to EST, the Sundance Institute, and the New York Foundation for the Arts. Directing the reading is Mark Armstrong, Director of New Work for off-Broadway's Keen Company and the Executive Director for The 24 Hour Plays. Recent directing credits include Christopher Shinn's The Coming World, Lucas Hnath's Odile's Ordeal (both Williamstown) and Dan O'Brien's From Kandahar to Canada (EST).
