The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts will present the 20th annual Mark Twain Prize for American Humor to David Letterman on Sunday, October 22, 2017 in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall. The Prize, which is named to honor one of the world's greatest humorists, will be given at a gala performance featuring some of the biggest names in comedy.

In her own inimitable style, Ms. Tomlin spoke fondly of Ms. Channing and recalled their first meeting "...in a dark alley in Chicago, it was the backstage door to the Shubert Theater, where Carol was appearing in 'Hello Dolly!.' The Saint Mary's College Department of Communication Studies, Dance, and Theatre is proud to welcome writer, comedian, and actress Casey Whitaker to campus as this year's Margaret M. Hill Endowed Visiting Artist in Residence. Whitaker is a member of Second City improvisational troupe, who spent a week on campus in March 2015 as part of the Margaret M. Hill Endowed Visiting Artist series. Whitaker is directing Saint Mary's theatre students in the spring production, a play titled Lucky, Liar, Loser, which she wrote herself. The play will run April 27-30 in Little Theatre.
