Giant Cherry Productions in association with Glitterati Productions presents the U.S. premiere of The Glass Protege, written by Dylan Costello with direction by John Nasca. Press opening is set for tonight, February 26, 2015 at 7:45 pm at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont, Chicago, Ilinois.

On Saturday, April 11, 2015, Light Opera Works will host its annual spring benefit, 'A Salute to Movie Musicals,' at the North Shore Country Club in Glenview, Illinois, celebrating the 35th year of the company. Proceeds will benefit Light Opera Works programming, including the 2015 season, the Musical Theater Summer Workshop, student half-price tickets and Family Talk Backs.

CHURCHILL, a new play adapted and performed by Ronald Keaton, has its Off-Broadway premiere at New World Stages and officially opens tonight, February 18th, following an acclaimed 2014 sellout world premiere engagement in Chicago. Under the direction of Kurt Johns, CHURCHILL is based on the life and writings of one of the greatest leaders of the 20th Century.

Writers Theatre presents The Diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, adapted by Wendy Kesselman and directed by Kimberly Senior. The show runs February 24 - June 28, 2015 at Books on Vernon, 664 Vernon Avenue, Glencoe. The Press Openings are Wednesday, March 4, and Thursday, March 5, 2015.

The official opening night is set for Wednesday, February 18th.

Light Opera Works' 2015 season will open with THE FANTASTICKS with expanded full orchestra (June 6-14), followed by SOUTH PACIFIC (August 15-30), HOLLYWOOD'S GREATEST SONG HITS (October 2-11), and GUYS AND DOLLS (December 26-January 3).

Pride Films and Plays announces that Sam Button-Harrison* and Dan Gold join Libby Lane* as the cast of The Book of Merman, a new musical comedy by Jeff Award-winning playwright Leo Schwartz. The show opens tonight, January 17, 2015 at Mary's Attic, 5400 North Clark Street.

Light Opera Works is currently taking applications for the summer teen production of SOUTH PACIFIC. Rehearsals are July 29 through August 14, at the Light Opera Works rehearsal center, 516 4th Street in Wilmette. Technical rehearsals on August 15 and 16, and the free public performance on Monday, August 17, at 7:30 pm, are at Cahn Auditorium, 600 Emerson in Evanston.

Light Opera Works is currently accepting enrollments for the 2015 Musical Theater Summer Workshop. Young people ages 8 to 13 will learn singing, dancing and acting in preparation for a public performance on Saturday, where family and friends are invited to watch them perform a mini-musical. No experience or audition required, and everyone gets a part.
