Producers Whoopi Goldberg, Stage Entertainment and Troika Entertainment announce that SISTER ACT, the musical comedy smash direct from Broadway, will play the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood for a 3 week engagement. Performances begin Tomorrow July 9 through July 28, 2013.

The Hampstead Thetare has unveiled its Autumn 2013 season, including HYSTERIA, directed by Terry Johnson and starring Antony Sher as Sigmund Freud. Edward Hall will also direct the world premiere of RAVING by Simon Paisley Day, with Tamzin Outhwaite leading the cast.

When I found out the divine musical comedy was headed to the DFW area, I jumped on the chance to see it; buying tickets as a mother's day present for my own mom. To be honest, I went in with pretty high expectations. All of which we met and in some cases exceeded.

The North American Tour of SISTER ACT will come to the Music Hall at Fair Park, presented by Dallas Summer Musicals, June 4-16. In all honesty, I was dreading seeing Broadway Across America - Houston's presentation of SISTER ACT's First National Tour at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts last night. As a fan of Alan Menken, I was elated to get my hands on a copy of the Original London Cast Recording in 2009. After giving the disc a whirl, I was anything but impressed. The musical ran at the London Palladium from June 2, 2009 to October 30, 2010. As it journeyed across the pond, the book was significantly reworked by Douglas Carter Beane for its rather successful April 20, 2011 to August 26, 2012 Broadway run at the Broadway Theatre. Between London, New York, and Houston, magic has definitely happened. The show, as it stands now, is a divinely delightful comedy that will leave audiences pumped and gushing about how truly fabulous it is.

Direct from Broadway, SISTER ACT, the hilarious, five-time Tony-nominated musical smash, is coming to Houston. SISTER ACT opens at the Hobby Center on May 28 and runs through June 2. Tickets go on sale to the public Sunday, January 27.

Ta'Rea Campbell stars as nightclub singer Deloris Van Cartier, the role made famous in the film by Whoopi Goldberg (who is a producer on the show). When Deloris sees her lover, gangster Curtis Jackson (Kingsley Leggs, who originated the role on Broadway), murder a snitch she's marked for execution and seeks help from the Philadelphia Police. She's taken into protection by shy, former high school classmate and cop 'Sweaty' Eddie Souther, who still harbors a crush for the flamboyant Deloris.

The National Theatre's production of The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time leads the list with eight nominations, followed by the toe-tapping new musical Top Hat receiving seven, and the West End transfer of Chichester Festival Theatre's revival of Sweeney Todd in close competition with six. Other stand-out nominations include The Audience and Kiss Me, Kate receiving five each, and Constellations, The Bodyguard and Twelfth Night with four.

PlayhouseSquare revealed its 2013-2014 KeyBank Broadway Series yesterday evening in the State Theatre. The exciting seven-show Series was announced by Senior Vice President of Theater Operations, Gina Vernaci, and the evening was capped off with a special performance from Anne Brummel, star of the 2nd North American Tour of Wicked, which will be delighting Cleveland audiences once again with its return in December of 2013.

New York City Center will present the New York premiere of Matthew Bourne's acclaimed Sleeping Beauty for a limited engagement, October 23 - November 3, 2013, at City Center (West 55th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues). Tickets will go on sale on March 25. Sleeping Beauty sees Bourne return to the music of Tchaikovsky to complete the trio of the composer's ballet masterworks that started in 1992 with Nutcracker! and continued in 1995 with the international hit Swan Lake. City Center presented a limited-run production of Swan Lake in 2010.

The 2013-2014 Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre season was announced today by CTG Artistic Director Michael Ritchie.
