It's another fun-filled, romantic summer of classics. This year, Chesapeake Shakespeare Company is producing what may be Shakespeare's most famous play -- Romeo and Juliet. The production will combine a Renaissance world with modern performance poetry to create a unique theatrical experience, directed by CSC's Jenny Leopold. In addition, CSC offers a sparkling version of Jane Austen's witty and beloved romance, Pride and Prejudice, directed by international theatre artist Isabelle Anderson. Jan Buttram's LOST ON THE NATCHEZ TRACE swept the recent 6th Annual Ab*ie Award ceremony garnering seven of the eight awards. Voted outstanding play, LOST ON THE NATCHEZ TRACE also took bows for outstanding male actor (Peter Brouwer) and direction, Kate Bushmann. Outstanding design awards went to Andrew Lu (set), Travis McHale (lighting), Catherine Siracusa and Sidney Levitt (co-costume design), and David M. Lawson (sound). Throughout 2012, Austria is celebrating the 150th birthday of Gustav Klimt with exhibitions devoted to his work. Several Viennese museums, including the Albertina, the Belvedere, the Kunsthistorisches Museum, the Leopold Museum, and the Wien Museum, are honoring different aspects of Klimt's extraordinary legacy. The Neue Galerie is joining in these celebrations with a special summer 2012 installation of his work. "Gustav Klimt: 150th Anniversary Celebration" will be on view at the Neue Galerie from May 24 to August 27, 2012.
