Canadian Opera Company's Ensemble Studio to Present La clemenza di Tito, 2/3-22

The young artists of the Canadian Opera Company's Ensemble Studio take to the mainstage for their own performance of Mozart's final opera, La clemenza di Tito, on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts. This special performance of a production described as "modern music theater you mustn't miss" (Chicago Tribune) is a rare showcase of these young singers' talent and an important step in their careers as they develop into the next generation of Canadian opera stars. All tickets to the February 6 performance are affordably priced at only $25 or $55. La clemenza di Tito is sung in Italian with English SURTITLES.

Robert Sean Leonard and Charlotte Parry to Lead The Old Globe's PYGMALION

The Old Globe today announced the complete cast and creative team of its 100th anniversary production of the George Bernard Shaw classic Pygmalion. Starring Tony Award winner Robert Sean Leonard (The Invention of Love, Born Yesterday) as Professor Henry Higgins and Charlotte Parry (The Importance of Being Earnest, The Real Thing) as Eliza Doolittle, the production coincides with the 100th anniversary of Pygmalion's 1913 premiere in Vienna, Austria. Directed by Nicholas Martin (Butley, Present Laughter), Pygmalion will run on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center, Jan. 12 - Feb. 17, 2013. Preview performances run Jan. 12 - Jan. 16. Philadelphia Orchestra Kicks Off Holiday Season with GLORIOUS SOUND OF CHRISTMAS Concert Tonight

The Philadelphia Orchestra is gearing up for the holidays, and this season's line-up promises plenty of cheer for people of all ages-from classical music aficionados to traditional holiday music lovers alike. The most wonderful time of the year opens with three Glorious Sound of Christmas concerts, tonight, December 20-22; continues with Handel's Messiah, December 23; and concludes with the time-honored tradition of the Orchestra's annual New Year's Eve Concert on December 31, this year conducted by new Music Director Yannick Nezet-Seguin. All concerts take place in Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center.

The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County has announced a powerhouse concert by one of the world's greatest orchestras conducted by a Spanish national treasure, joining one of the most acclaimed American pianists of our time in the majestic Knight Concert Hall. On February 7, 2013, the Center's four-concert John S. and James L. Knight Masterworks Season - Sanford and Beatrice Ziff Classical Music Series, presents THE PHILADELPHIA ORCHESTRA conducted by RAFAEL FRÜHBECK DE BURGOS in Beethoven's grandest and most moving "EMPEROR" PIANO CONCERTO NO. 5, played by ANDRE WATTS. The program opens with the legendary Leopold Stokowski's orchestration of Johann Sebastian Bach's Cantata "Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme" ("Sleepers Awake") and closes with Johannes Brahms's majestic Symphony No. 1.

The Irish Repertory Theatre (132 West 22nd Street) continues its sixth season of the Irish Rep Reading Series, with a free reading of GIBRALTAR -- Patrick Fitzgerald's adaptation of James Joyce's 'Ulysses' today, December 14 at 2:30 p.m. at the Irish Repertory Theatre (132 West 22nd Street).

COC Presents Mozart's Final Opera La clemenza di Tito in February

The Canadian Opera Company presents a production described as "modern music theatre you mustn't miss" (Chicago Tribune) this winter season when it performs Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's last opera, La clemenza di Tito, directed by Christopher Alden. Conducting some of opera's most sublime music is the dynamic young maestro Daniel Cohen in his company debut, leading an acclaimed ensemble cast that features internationally renowned Canadian tenor Michael Schade and Metropolitan Opera regular American mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard. La clemenza di Tito is sung in Italian with English SURTITLES™ and was last performed by the COC in 1991. It runs for nine performances at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts on February 3, 6*, 7, 9, 11, 13, 16, 19 and 22, 2013.

Arden Children's Theatre is best enjoyed by families with children ages 5 and older.

Symphony Space Honors the Memory of Founding Artistic Director Isaiah Sheffer

It is with both heavy hearts and deep gratitude that the staff, board, and community of artists of Symphony Space honor the memory of Founding Artistic Director Isaiah Sheffer, who died on Thursday evening of last week from complications after a stroke. He was 76 years old.
