The Frist Center for the Visual Arts Presents TELLING TALES: STORIES AND LEGENDS IN 19TH-CENTURY AMERICAN ART, 2/27-6/7

The Frist Center for the Visual Arts presents Telling Tales: Stories and Legends in 19th-Century American Art from February 27–June 7, 2015, in the Center's Upper-Level Galleries. The exhibition features paintings and sculptures that recount stories relating to American cultural aspirations and everyday life throughout the 19th century. Narrative landscapes by Thomas Cole and Asher B. Durand of the Hudson River School, genre scenes by William Sidney Mount and Francis W. Edmonds and sculptures by John Rogers are among the highlights of the exhibition.

Minnesota Opera Presents THE ELIXIR OF LOVE, 1/24

Music lovers will temporarily swap frigid Minnesota temps for the warmth of sun-drenched Tuscany, thanks to Minnesota Opera's upcoming production, The Elixir of Love. Set in the rolling hills of the Italian countryside, Donizetti's timeless romantic comedy opens January 24 at the Ordway Music Theater in St. Paul for five performances. In the opera, American soprano Nicole Cabell stars as the beautiful and wealthy Adina, doggedly pursued by the love-struck Nemorino, a handsome but simple peasant sung by Italian American tenor Leonardo Capalbo.

Fathom Events Presents EXHIBITION ON SCREEN

Fathom Events, in association with Arts Alliance and Seventh Art Productions, is bringing five of the world's most acclaimed art exhibitions to select U.S. cinemas with 'EXHIBITION ON SCREEN,' kicking off on January 13, 2015. The first film, 'Matisse from MoMA and Tate Modern,' is based on the critically acclaimed exhibition Henri Matisse: The Cut-Outs, now on view at The Museum of Modern Art in New York. Screening in more than 300 movie theatres around the country, each film will allow audiences to experience exclusive interviews with art experts and historical figures, rare glimpses behind the scenes at the world's top museums and compelling biographical details, all without museum crowds or the expenses of traveling. Even if you've already seen these exhibitions on tour, this film series will give you exclusive access and content that can't be seen anywhere else.

Stephen Fry to Return as Host of EE BAFTA FILM AWARDS

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts has today announced that Stephen Fry will return to host the EE British Academy Film Awards on 8 February 2015 at the Royal Opera House in London's Covent Garden. It will be the 10th time Fry has hosted the ceremony.
