It was announced today that Australian daredevil Sam Powers, aka The Enigma, will join the Melbourne season of The Illusionists: Direct from Broadway at The Regent Theatre from 22 January 2019. Described by critics as a new breed of escape artist, Powers will attempt a world first, death defying escape in a nail biting, edge-of-your-seat spectacle that would have Houdini turn in his grave.

The 30th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) will present Olivia Colman with the Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actress for The Favourite at its annual Film Awards Gala. The award will be presented by her co-star in the film Emma Stone. The Film Awards Gala, hosted by Mary Hart and Entertainment Tonight, and presented by American Express, will be held on Thursday, January 3 at the Palm Springs Convention Center. The Festival runs January 3-14.

Wine Spectator's senior editor and tasting director Alison Napjus announced the 103 wineries that will pour their signature wines during OperaWine 2019, Vinitaly's opening gala to be held in collaboration with the prestigious wine magazine in Verona, Italy, on Saturday 6 April next year. As is been customary for the past three years, the announcement has been made in Verona during the wine business convention wine2wine organized by Veronafiere, Vinitaly, and Vinitaly International. Napjus proclaimed the 103 finest Italian producers for 2019 on Monday 26 November at wine2wine in the presence of Maurizio Danese (President of Veronafiere), Giovanni Mantovani (CEO of Veronafiere), Gianni Bruno (Area Manager of Vinitaly), and Stevie Kim (Managing Director of Vinitaly International), and called the wineries' representatives on stage for the traditional group photograph.

Akram Khan Company Announce The World Premiere Of OUTWITTING THE DEVIL

Akram Khan Company have today announced a brand-new production from the multi award-winning choreographer and dancer Akram Khan. Outwitting the Devil will premiere in Stuttgart in July 2019. The announcement comes six weeks ahead of Until the Lions' homecoming to the Roundhouse in London, Khan's first ever work in the round and one of his most haunting, which he will dance for the last ever time. Both pieces of work will explore old myth and reinterpret them in a contemporary context, in a way that Khan has become renowned for in his career over the last two decades. Brand new images for Until the Lions have also been released today. Outwitting the Devil will premiere at COLOURS International Dance Festival, Stuttgart, running 13-14 July. Until the Lions at the Roundhouse runs from 11 - 17 January 2019. Tickets for Until the Lions are now on sale.

Conductor Markus Stenz leads the world premiere of the highly-anticipated world premiere performance of Fin de Partie at Teatro alla Scala, the first and only opera by the beloved, visionary composer György Kurtág, composed at the age of 91. Based on the famous Samuel Beckett play, commonly performed in English as Endgame, the operatic version, to be sung in French, has been more than seven years in the making. At 450 pages, Fin de Partie is by far the largest score ever composed by the reputed 'master of the miniature,' who has for several decades maintained the desire of writing a musical treatment for the sparse, sardonically existential work. This production is staged by internationally-acclaimed artistic and theater director, Pierre Audi.
