On May 20-22 Symphony Space will present Americans: Who Are We?, the latest installment of The Thalia Follies: A Political Cabaret, now in its sixth hilarious season.

TAKE Dance, a contemporary dance ensemble known for its effortless fusion of Eastern and Western sensibilities led by artistic director and choreographer Takehiro Ueyama, presents two programs exploring poetic and visceral human connections to nature. All performances will feature the World Premiere of Flight, set to music by artists including Ana Milosavljevic, Terry Riley, Aleksandra Vrebalov, Philip Glass, Alva Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto, and choreographed by Takehiro Ueyama.

World-class musicians, including Joshua Bell, Bobby McFerrin, Philip Glass, Béla Fleck and Hilary Hahn, among many others, reflect on the power and genius of Bach's music and perform his greatest masterpieces in the new documentary Bach & Friends (Michael Lawrence, 2010).

Broadway leading man Gavin Creel, who is currently reprising his Broadway role of Claude in the West End's production of HAIR, will appear on May 4 at the London club Ronnie Scott's.

Ed Anser, Leonard Nimoy, Fionnula Flanagan, Jane Kaczmarek, Christina Pickes, Rene Auberjonois, Kirsten Vangsness, JoBeth Williams, Kieth Szarabajka, Freda Foh Shen, and Isaiah Sheffer will all participate in 'Selected Shorts: A Celebration of the Short Story,' which will take place at the Getty Center on May 2 at 3 PM.

On June 7 at 7:30 p.m., Symphony Space presents a monumental evening of entertainment, 32 years in the making, as the venerable cultural center celebrates co-founder, voce of Selected Shorts and out-going Artistic Director Isaiah Sheffer with Isaiah Fest.

Tales of Downtown: One Woman's Adventures Living in A Loft in Downtown LA, written and created by writer/publisher Nancy Mills, follows the adventures and mis-adventures of a former entertainment industry journalist who made the leap from the Westside to downtown, and found a world filled with her very own cast of characters. Following a sold-out performance in 2009, Tales of Downtown returns to Company of Angels, located in the historic Alexandria Hotel for one performance only, Sunday March 28 at 3pm. Greg Gately is Director/Producer.

During a special preview event last night, the Carpenter Performing Arts Center of Long Beach announced its 2010-2011 season which includes a wide variety of performances. Included in the line-up are Broadway veteren Susan Egan, Pink Floyd, and Leonard Nimoy.
