Ed Asner, Leonard Nimoy, et al. Set for Selected Shorts at Getty Center, 5/1-5/2

By:

Ed Anser, Leonard Nimoy, Fionnula Flanagan, Jane Kaczmarek, Christina Pickes, Rene Auberjonois, Kirsten Vangsness, JoBeth Williams, Kieth Szarabajka, Freda Foh Shen, and Isaiah Sheffer will all participate in "Selected Shorts: A Celebration of the Short Story," which will take place at the Getty Center on May 1 at 3 PM and 7 PM and May 2 at 3 PM.

Produced by New York's Symphony Space, the popular public radio series featuring Hollywood and Broadway actors reading classic and new short fiction returns to the Getty for a weekend of stories about home. Moving, comical, romantic, heart wrenching, heartwarming, and thought provoking, these readings focus on the way we live. The series is held each spring at the Getty Center.

On May 1 at 3 PM the company will perform "Privacy" by Richard Ford, "The Shared Patio" by Miranda July, and "Thinks We Knew When the House Caught Fire," by David Drury. On May 1 at 7 PM the Getty Center will present Krista McGruder's "Not Quite Home Alone," Peter Taylor's "Porte-Cochère," Yasunari Kawabata's "Household," and John Updike's "Plumbing."

Then, on May 2 at 3 PM the company will present "The Knocking" by David Means, "Adults Alone," by A.M. Homes, "Strangers in the House" by Nahid Rachlin, and "A Disappearance" by Julie Otsuka.
All performances take place in the Harold M. Williams Auditorium at the Getty Center. Parking is free after 5:00 p.m.

Tickets will cost $20; $15 for students/seniors.
