Beautiful City Theatre, in collaboration with Virtu'O, produces the contemporary rock musical NEXT TO NORMAL opening tonight, May 15, 2015 at Centaur Theatre (453 rue St. Francois-Xavier) in Montreal, Quebec. The multiple Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical will run for two weekends, from May 15 - 17, and May 21 - 23, 2015. Evening performances will start at 7:30 PM and matinees on Sunday May 17th and Saturday May 23rd at 1:30 PM.

The University of Texas at Austin Department of Theatre and Dance brings Broadway talent to Austin with the newly developed musical, Helldrivers of Daytona, for a free workshop performance June 20, 2015 at the B. Iden Payne Theatre.

The Muny announced today several principal cast members for the seven shows in its spectacular 97th season, which opens on June 15 with My Fair Lady. Full casts and companies will be announced throughout May.

On Monday, May 11, musical theatre songwriting team Janine McGuire and Arri Lawton Simon will present an evening of their original music in 'McGuire & Simon: Looking Forward.' On Today, February 28 at 8 pm, a cast of five will sing selections from Katya Stanislavskaya's new musical Resident Alien. The event has been designated a VT Arts 2015 event by the Vermont Arts Council.

Anita Darian, a soprano whose four-octave voice earned her the nickname “The Armenian Yma Sumac” and spawned an eclectic 50-year career that ranged from performances with the New York City Opera, Leonard Bernstein and the New York Philharmonic to big-band jazz concerts, co-starring roles with Barbara Cook, and hit pop recordings that included “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” is dead at 87. A longtime resident of East Atlantic Beach, L.I., she died Sunday, Feb. 1 at South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside of complications from surgery.

The Weston Playhouse Theatre Company announces Katya Stanislavskaya's Resident Alien as the winner of its ninth annual New Musical Award. The only honor of its kind in the country, the Weston New Musical Award supports a high quality demo of a new work by writers and composers of notable promise, chosen from a group of national nominations.
