Today, June 9, creator/writer/performer Sylvia Milo discusses her one-woman play, The Other Mozart, revealing the life and talent of Wolfgang's older sister, Maria Anna Mozart (nicknamed 'Nannerl').

Under the auspices of GRoW @ The Wallis, The Wallis Youth Theater Company presents its second theater production of the 2016-17 season, playwright Gareth Jandrell's Thebes, which makes its North American premiere on Saturday, June 10 at 8pm and Sunday, June 11 at 6pm at The Wallis in Beverly Hills. Ravaged by climate change and shaken by political turmoil, the citizens of Thebes must unite in order to revolutionize their democracy. From Oedipus to Antigone, the story of Thebes  remains a fascinating exploration of fate, morality and power, two and a half thousand years after the saga was originally written. Thebes is directed by Madeleine Dahm, with lighting design by Bosco Flanagan, recently named Lighting Designer of the Year by Los Angeles' Stage Raw. The cast includes young actors: Trecey Dory, Malakai Jones, Jayde Kief, Samantha Marino, Kelvin Morales, Jordan Rodriguez, Alexander Sheldon and Clementine Turner.

Local actor Sean Philippe will be making his stage debut alongside the theater's resident ensemble cast members Allan Whitehead, Marco DiGeorge and Zack Roundy in Tracy Letts' 2008 comedy-drama Superior Donuts.

Previews begin May 31 for Rubicon Theatre Company presentation of the acclaimed Off-Broadway drama the N.Y. Times describes as "strikingly beautiful."

This coming Wednesday, May 24th at 7:30 p.m. at Bowery Electric (327 Bowery, NYC 10003), British rock icon, Ian McDonald (co-founder of Foreigner & King Crimson) showcases his new guitar rock band, HONEY WEST, with songwriting partner Ted Zurkowski, a Shakespearean thespian whose mentor, the great 'method' man Lee Strasberg, made a lifetime member of The Actors Studio.

FUERZAfest - Latino LGBTQ Festival presented by the Hispanic Federation returns in May of 2017 on its second edition in New York. MÁSCARAS AFUERA (Masks Off) is one of the eight plays chosen to be part of this festival, a comedy by Joselo Arroyo directed by Gerardo Gudiño with Edna Lee Figueroa and Edmi De Jesus.
