The 17th Annual Helpmann Awards will be announced at a ceremony on starting at 7pm EST Monday 24th July at the Capitol Theatre Sydney.

The Helpmann Awards are the premier celebration of Australia's vibrant live performance industry and recognise distinguished achievement and excellence in Australia's live performance sectors including musical theatre, contemporary music, comedy, opera, classical music, theatre, ballet, dance and physical theatre, presentation for children, regional touring and cabaret.

Melbourne Theatre Company today launched its NEXT STAGE Writers' Program, a $4.6 million investment in Australian writers funded by the visionary donors of MTC's Playwrights Giving Circle and Melbourne Theatre Company.

Set in the future, Cleverman features powerful characters from ancient Aboriginal mythology, the Hairy people, who must battle daily to survive in a world that seeks to silence and destroy them.
