The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) announced additional casting and creatives for the 25th Annual Festival of New Musicals on Thursday, October 17 and Friday, October 18 at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street).
On Monday night, the Broadway at Birdland concert series presented the long-awaited return of MONTGOMERY, MAYES & STRITCH, the vocal trio starring Sharon Montgomery, Sally Mayes and Billy Stritch. For the first time in 32 years, the trio dazzled the New York music scene with a packed house of fans and friends, including Liza Minnelli, Rex Reed, Klea Blackhurst, Jeff Harnar, Natalie Douglas and Bubba McNeeley. For four magical nights in October, the Mabel Mercer Foundation will present a sparkling array of America's leading cabaret stars. Among the 60 outstanding artists who will take the stage at the Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center from October 7th through 10th are multiple Grammy Award winner Jack Jones, Marilyn Maye, Steve Ross, Karen Akers, Nellie McKay, and Barbara Carroll.
Corinna Sowers-Adler, Bloomfield resident and Wilkes University Graduate, is set to make her Lincoln Center debut in the 24th Annual New York Cabaret Convention on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 6pm in Lincoln Center's 1,300 seat Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center. Created in 1985 as a not-for-profit arts organization, The Mabel Mercer Foundation serves to both perpetuate the memory and spirit of its legendary namesake and to stimulate and promote public interest world of cabaret. Currently in its third decade, the Foundation and its efforts have been perhaps best summarized and recognized by a recent commendation from The Oakland Tribune: "Cabaret may not be thriving, but it is alive and well, thanks mainly to The Mabel Mercer Foundation and its support of wonderfully diverse talents."
Richmond CenterStage today announced the lineup for the third year of the annual U.S. Trust Life is a Cabaret! Series: A Celebration of the American Song Book, which will begin on October 17 with the first of four performances by Richmond's own Sharon Rae North in her CenterStage debut.

t's one of those old musicals with a few memorable tunes and a ridiculous plot that would find it difficult to stand on a modern stage otherwise, but solid performances anchored by Blackhurst make Goodspeed's production an enjoyable romp through turn-of-the-century New York. Goodspeed announced a week's extension to the run before it even had begun.
