24th Annual New York Cabaret Convention Features Corinna Sowers-Adler, 10/10

Corinna Sowers-Adler, Bloomfield resident and Wilkes University Graduate, is set to make her Lincoln Center debut in the 24th Annual New York Cabaret Convention on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 6pm in Lincoln Center's 1,300 seat Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center. Created in 1985 as a not-for-profit arts organization, The Mabel Mercer Foundation serves to both perpetuate the memory and spirit of its legendary namesake and to stimulate and promote public interest world of cabaret. Currently in its third decade, the Foundation and its efforts have been perhaps best summarized and recognized by a recent commendation from The Oakland Tribune: "Cabaret may not be thriving, but it is alive and well, thanks mainly to The Mabel Mercer Foundation and its support of wonderfully diverse talents."

Ms. Sowers-Adler was asked to sing as part of the convention by Mabel Mercer Foundation's Artistic Director, KT Sullivan. She will be joined on stage by such Broadway and Cabaret legends such as KLea Blackhurst, Sidney Myer, Mark Nadler, Sally Mayes and William Blake.

Corinna Sowers Adler has been performing since age 9 and began her professional career at age 16 in the New York Debut of The Rope. Corinna has created and is the host for the monthly series, Music at the Mansion, which was nominated for a 2012 MAC award. She was also nominated for the 2012 Broadway World Awards in the "Best Female Vocalist" and Best Host of a Variety Show" categories. She has booked and performed solo shows at the Laurie Beechman Theater, The Triad Theater, the legendary Duplex Cabaret, Feinstein's at Loews Regency and the Metropolitan Room. Sowers-Adler is the co-owner of NiCori Studios & Productions and has just been appointed as the Executive Director of Gas Lamp Academy of Performing Arts. Before moving to New Jersey in 2009, Corinna served as the Director of theatre for the Wilkes University Conservatory in Wilkes-Barrre, PA. She also held the position of Artistic Director of Children's theatre at the Historic Pocono and Bucks County Playhouses. She has performed across the country in theatrical productions and cabarets alike. Favorite roles include Mother in Ragtime, Carlotta in Phantom, and Amy in Company.
Corinna will also debut a new solo cabaret show at Stage 72 at the Triad on West 72nd Street on Monday, October 14, 2013 at 7pm entitled, "Let Me Sing and I'm Happy". She will be joined on stage by Montclair resident, Markus Hauck, on piano.
