A good drag queen is ready for anything, and with a dash of Southern charm and a whole lot of hairspray, RuPaul's Drag Race alum Ginger Minj gave a performance at the Laurie Beechman Theatre on September 25 that was as gleefully unpolished as it was raucously funny. Above all else, despite it being labeled an album release party, Ginger's debut album, Sweet T, actually got pushed to late October. But she didn't just roll with the punches, she seemed to delight in them, stopping at nothing to give audience members a taste of the real Ginger Minj.

Fall is officially in the air school is in full session. We recently went back to school at Broadway Sessions, inviting some Broadway favorites to perform the roles they sang in their high school musicals. And maybe a song or 2 they didn't get to, because (fill in the blank) got the part over them. The revenge was sweet, the stories hysterical and the voices unreal. Broadway's Max Chernin (Bright Star), Kaitlyn Davidson (Cinderella, Nice Work If You Can Get It) and F. Michael Haynie (Wicked), as well as Jed Resnick (Avenue Q)* will headline the The Mik e Pettry Project , the second in the Singers Forum/EMGCollective's collaborative songbook series on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, October 4 & 5, at the Laurie Beechman Theatre. The series brings together Broadway performers and members of the SF/AEA Scholarship Program to spotlight work of prominent new composers. Following the success of The Patrick Dwyer Project, the series now features composer/lyricist Mike Pettry (The Light Princess, Things I Left on Long Island) whose work has been produced at A.R.T., South Coast Rep, The New Victory Theatre, etc. Pettry's current projects include partnering with composer Eli Bolin as he provides the lyrics for The Last Song of Eddie Scourge, a hard-rock adaptation of the classic A Christmas Carol.

Zachary Clause announces a two-night run of his cabaret drag comedy, Sherry Takes a Holiday, on Friday, October 28 and Saturday, October 29 at The Laurie Beechman Theatre (407 W. 42nd Street). Doors open at 6:00pm with the show beginning at 7:00pm.

BROADWAY SESSIONS is described as an evening of musical performances, games and open mic featuring a new Broadway guest each week. The show is created and hosted by Ben Cameron (Bway Wicked, Aida and Footloose) and features musical director Joshua Stephen Kartes on piano.  This Thursday, September 29th, Broadway Sessions welcomes cast members from Sara Bareilles penned Broadway hit, Waitress. 

James Ballard and Seth Christenfeld, the musical theatre writing team behind The Oxford Epidemic, will present an evening of their material at The Laurie Beechman Theater for one night only on Monday, September 26th at 7:00 PM. With book and lyrics by Sammy Buck and music by Daniel S. Acquisto, the musical is based on the books by Britt Menzies. Michael Schloegl directs.

The Broadway Artists Connection (BAC) presents Broadway Artists & Friends Open Mic & Mingle hosted by eight time Broadway Veteran & comedian J. Elaine Marcos on Monday, October 10th at 7pm (doors open at 6pm).
