Casting has been announced for the Boston engagement of Disney's The Lion King. Boston's most eagerly awaited stage production returns to the Boston Opera House stage from September 9 to October 12 as part of the 2014-2015 Lexus Broadway In Boston Season.
The UK and Ireland tour of SHREK THE MUSICAL® premieres tonight, Wednesday 30 July at the Grand Theatre in Leeds before 'taking ogre' Bristol, Nottingham, Belfast, Dublin, Oxford, Manchester, Aberdeen, Canterbury, Newcastle, Birmingham, Glasgow, Sheffield, Norwich, Southampton, Plymouth and Milton Keynes with further venues still to be announced. The Actors Fund, a national human services organization that helps all professionals in performing arts and entertainment, is pleased to announce that the producer, cast, and management of Disney's The Lion King have added a special performance to benefit The Fund today, July 30 at 1:30pm in the Kennedy Center Opera House in Washington, D.C. The entire company will donate their time and talent for this performance that will directly benefit The Actors Fund.

Harwood received an Academy Award for his screenplay of The Pianist and was nominated for The Diving Bell and the Butterfly and The Dresser (also a hit on Broadway and the West End). Internationally-acclaimed playwright Conor McPherson's period drama The Veil is given its US premiere at Quotidian Theatre Company. The New York Times called McPherson 'the finest playwright of his generation'. The Veil made its world premiere at National Theatre in a production Evening Standard called 'atmospheric and haunting'. Quotidian has staged six prior productions of McPherson's work. The US premiere production runs through August 17 at The Writer's Center in downtown Bethesda.
Capturing the imagination of young and old alike, the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical continues to play to packed houses at the Cambridge Theatre in London. Matilda has now been seen by almost 1.5million people since it transferred to the West End in October 2011. The production was commissioned by the RSC and played to sold-out audiences at the RSC's The Courtyard Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon for twelve weeks from November 2010 to January 2011. Tickets are now on sale until Sunday 24 May 2015.
