TV: First Look at Highlights of CST's THE MAGIC FLUTE

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) presents Isango Ensemble's The Magic Flute (Impempe Yomlingo), bringing thirty actors and musicians from South Africa to Chicago as part of CST's celebrated World's Stage Series. The Magic Flute reimagines Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's most beloved operatic work, incorporating African singing, pulsating beats and spirited storytelling into this 223-year-old classic. Based in Cape Town, the vibrant company of the Isango Ensemble unites the diverse nation of Africa by reinventing classics from the Western theater canon within a South African setting. Adapted and directed by Isango co-founder Mark Dornford-May, The Magic Flute took London by storm, garnering London's prestigious Laurence Olivier Award. The production will be performed at Skyline Stage on Navy Pier (next door to CST) for a limited engagement, September 25-28, 2014. Check out highlights below!

Norm Lewis, Alli Mauzey, Christoper Fitzgerald & More Join Cast of New York Philharmonic's SHOW BOAT; Will be Filmed for Live From Lincoln Center!

The New York Philharmonic has announced several additions to the cast of the semi-staged production of Kern & Hammerstein's Show Boat, November 5-8, 2014: Tony-nominated actor Christopher Fitzgerald (who will portray Frank); Tony-nominated actor Norm Lewis, who appeared on Broadway as Porgy in The Gershwins' Porgy & Bess (Joe); Broadway performer Alli Mauzey (Ellie); Broadway and television performer Edward Watts (Steve); Emmy- nominated comedic stage and screen actor Fred Willard (Cap'n Andy); and Broadway performer NaTasha Yvette Williams (Queenie).

Deadline reports that Academy Award-winner Anthony Hopkins is joining Kidnapping Freddy Heineken's Daniel Alfredson on new thriller, GO WITH ME. Presented by Enderby Entertainment and The Gotham Group, GO WITH ME is based on Castle Freeman Jr.'s 2008 novel of the same title.

The autobiographical My Perfect Mind has returned to the Young Vic before embarking on a UK and International tour. Directed by Kathryn Hunter (well-known as the first British actress to play King Lear at the Young Vic) and starring Paul Hunter and veteran actor Edward Petherbridge, it takes the audience on a trip through Petherbridge's life.

Hillbarn Theatre to Present THE 39 STEPS, 10/16-11/2

Hillbarn Theatre, the Peninsula's premier community theatre company, follows up on the success of their critically acclaimed 2014-15 season opener Funny Girl with one of Broadway's most entertaining shows, The 39 Steps. Equal parts Hitchcock masterpiece and thrilling spy novel, The 39 Steps is a high-speed comedy smash hit that follows Patrick Barlow and John Buchan's iconic hero Richard Hannay as he finds himself embroiled in a riotous chase dodging police and charming ladies across England and Scotland. Winner of two Tony Awards and the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Comedy, The 39 Steps blends virtuoso performances with wildly inventive stagecraft amounting to an unforgettable evening in the theatre. The 39 Steps will run October 16 - November 2, 2014 at Hillbarn Theatre (1285 East Hillsdale Blvd., Foster City). Performances are Thursdays-Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Press night for The 39 Steps will be held on Friday, October 17, 2014. DAMN YANKEES to Return to London This Fall

A Faustian musical about baseball may not be the most obvious plot choice but this production is gutsy and exciting and is certainly good reason to hurry to The Landor. Damn Yankees is back! Damn Yankees will play the Landor Theatre, 70 Landor Road, London SW9 9PH from Wednesday 1st October to Saturday 8th November 2014. Press night is set for Tuesday 7th October, 7.30pm.

GLORIOUS! to Run 10/10-11/2 at ICT

In 1940s New York, the performer who everyone wanted to see live was Florence Foster Jenkins, an enthusiastic soprano whose pitch was far from perfect. Based on a true story, Glorious! is Peter Quilter's hilarious, Olivier-nominated comedy that invites us into the world of this New York socialite of great passion, considerable wealth and zero talent who fancied herself an opera diva. Richard Israel directs a four-week run at International City Theatre, opening Oct. 10.

STAGE TUBE: On This Day 9/10- CATS

Today in 2000, Cats closed at the Wintergarden Theatre, where it ran for 7485 performances. Cats is a musical composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, based on Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats by T. S. Eliot. Cats first opened in the West End in 1981 and then on Broadway in 1982, each time directed by Trevor Nunn and choreographed by Gillian Lynne; it won numerous awards, including both the Laurence Olivier Award and the Tony Award for Best Musical.

Hadyn Gwynne, Jerome Pradon and Anna Skellern join Tamsin Greig in the UK premiere of David Yazbek and Jeffrey Lane's new musical adaptation of Pedro Almodovar's Oscar-nominated film Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. Directed by Tony Award-winner Bartlett Sher, and following two full-scale development workshops with actors, musicians and the creative team, the production will open in a limited run for 20 weeks only at The Playhouse Theatre on 12 January 2015, with previews from 20 December 2014.
