Film Independent, the non-profit arts organization that produces the Spirit Awards and the Los Angeles Film Festival, held its annual honors yesterday, February 25, in Santa Monica. Hosted by Seth Rogan, the awards ceremony premiered later that night at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on IFC. Winners included Christopher Plummer, Michelle Williams, the company of The Artist and more! BEGINNERS writer/director Mike Mills and his stars Ewan McGregor, Christopher Plummer and Mélanie Laurent, producers Leslie Urdang, Dean Vanech, Miranda de Pencier, Jay Van Hoy and Lars Knudsen attended a special screening of their Beginners film yesterday, May 24. Guests included Julianna Margulies, Samantha Mathis, Miranda July, Mike Diamond, Kate Spade, Justin Vivian Bond, Pam Ann, Tom Sachs, Cristina Martinez, Jon Spencer; Focus Features' James Schamus and Andrew Karpen and more. Film Independent, the non-profit arts organization that produces the Spirit Awards and the Los Angeles Film Festival, announced nominations this morning for the 25th Film Independent Spirit Awards. Nominees for Best Feature include (500) Days Of Summer, Amreeka, Precious, Sin Nombre and The Last Station. Taraji P. Henson and Matt Dillon also announced finalists for the Acura Someone to Watch Award, the Truer Than Fiction Award, and the Piaget Producers Award. A Serious Man was selected for the Robert Altman Award, which is given to one film's director, casting director and ensemble cast.

Film Independent said of the comedian, 'Izzard's tangential, absurd, bizarre, and surreal comic narratives are lauded for their creativity and wit, which suits the irreverent, laid-back style of the Spirit Awards.'
