Center Theatre Group has announced casting for the West Coast premiere of Suzan-Lori Parks' 'Father Comes Home From the Wars (Parts 1, 2 & 3)' which begins previews April 5, opens April 17 and continues through May 15, 2016, at the Mark Taper Forum.

Award-winning playwright Bathsheba Doran's heartfelt new work, THE MYSTERY OF LOVE & SEX, opened last night, February 21, 2016, at the Center Theatre Group/Mark Taper Forum and continues through March 20. BroadwayWorld has photos from the starry festivities below!

Playwrights Horizons in association with The Actors Theatre of Louisville presented Lucas Hnath's new play The Christians this past fall in New York to great acclaim. The controversial  play with contradictory arguments about God and heaven/hell has now docked at the Mark Taper Forum through January 10, 2016. Judging by the opening night audience - you could hear a pin drop - The Christians with its crisp dialogue,  stellar cast and taut direction is a surefire winner.

Now in it's seventh season, the Obie Award winning The Fire This Time Festival is pleased to announce the play readings for their 2016 festival, which will run January 18-February 6 at The Kraine Theater (85 East 4th Street between 2nd Avenue and Bowery). In addition to play readings the 2016 festival will also feature 10-minute plays directed by Nicole A. Watson, excerpts of solo shows, excerpts from the plays developed in the inaugural writer's group, and a panel discussion.

The New Group presents the world premiere of STEVE, a new play by Mark Gerrard. Directed by Cynthia Nixon, this production features Ashlie Atkinson and Francisco Pryor Garat, and as announced, Mario Cantone, Jerry Dixon,Malcolm Gets and Matt McGrath. A limited Off-Broadway engagement plays now through December 27 at The Pershing Square Signature Center (The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre, 480 West 42nd Street). The Primary Stages' 2015 Gala took place tonight, November 16, 2015 at 583 Park Avenue. The event celebrated the company and honored Tony and Grammy-winning composer and lyricists Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.

The Kesselring Prize for playwriting -- given by the National Arts Club in New York since 1980 -- returns this year following a six-year hiatus with the announcement that Lucas Hnath is the recipient of the 2015 Kesselring Prize. Hnath was submitted by The Actors Theatre of Louisville for his new play The Christians, which debuted there at the Humana Festival and is currently playing off-Broadway at Playwrights Horizons in NYC. The play is directed by Les Waters.
