Nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in classical music, he has won Oscar, Golden Globe and World Soundtrack Awards

Casting for the first two weeks of American Ballet Theatre's 2015 Spring Season at the Metropolitan Opera House was announced today by Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie. 

Under the artistic direction of Bradley Shelver, the STEPS REPERTORY ENSEMBLE is the contemporary dance company of STEPS BEYOND FOUNDATION, a non-for-profit organization in residence at the prestigious Steps on Broadway. The Ensemble commissions choreographers, both established and emerging, to create new works and to restage repertory, thereby connecting to America's rich modern dance legacy.

The 5th Annual Dance Against Cancer was held on Monday, April 27, 2015.  The event had over 500 guests attend and raised more than $243,000 for the American Cancer Society that will benefit research initiatives and patient and family service programs.

Today, April 29 is International Dance Day and to celebrate, Canadian dance icon Peggy Baker presents figures in motion - part lecture, part slide show - free for the public at the Betty Oliphant Theatre at 7:15pm. figures in motion is presented just prior to a performance of her first-ever full evening ensemble work, locus plot, which runs April 24-May 3 at the same location. In honour of International Dance Day, today's performance of locus plot will be pay-what-you-can at the door.

On April 17, 2015, David Hallberg Presents: Legacy, was presented as the final performance of the Youth America Grand Prix. Hallberg himself served as moderator, introducing the evening's participating dancers and the companies: Bolshoi Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Mariinsky Ballet, Tokyo Ballet in their U.S. debut, ABT Studio Company, and the Australian Ballet. Although public speaking does not seem to come as easily to Hallberg as dancing, he entertained us with anecdotes from his experience dancing with American Ballet Theatre and abroad.

Celebrated international ballet star, David Hallberg, offers an intimate look at the world-renowned ballet companies as they perform varied and rarely-seen contemporary works, representative of each preeminent institution. Hallberg will introduce each company and share an insider's perspective on the works and the institutions that have left an indelible impression on him as an artist. 'David Hallberg Presents: LEGACY' will take place tonight, April 17, 2015 at 7:00pm at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center.

Lincoln Center Theater presents Rodgers & Hammerstein's The King and I, led by Kelli O'Hara (as Anna Leonowens) and Ken Watanabe (as the King of Siam), directed by Bartlett Sher. Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and Artistic Director Glenn Edgerton are excited to announce the main company's 2015-16 season performances in Chicago. Juilliard Dances Repertory presents masterworks by acclaimed choreographers Martha Graham and Merce Cunningham. Juilliard dancers perform Martha Graham's Dark Meadow and Merce Cunningham's BIPED. Aaron Sherber will conduct the Juilliard musicians performing the music live with the dancers for Dark Meadow.
