Pianist Lang Lang to Play Civic Opera House, 5/9

The internationally acclaimed Chinese pianist Lang Lang will return to the Civic Opera House, home to Lyric Opera of Chicago, on Saturday, May 9 at 7:30pm, for his only Chicago-area concert in 2015.

?Music Institute of Chicago, now in its 85th year, hosts its annual gala Monday, May 11 at the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago, 120 East Delaware Place. The oldest community music school in Illinois and one of the three largest community music schools in the nation, the Music Institute is planning a celebratory evening highlighted by the presentation of the Dushkin Award to John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts President and former Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association President Deborah F. Rutter.

Carnegie Hall Elects New Chairman of Board of Trustees; Sanford I. Weill to Serve as President

Carnegie Hall today announced that Sanford I. Weill, Chairman of Carnegie Hall's Board of Trustees since 1991, will retire from this post after 24 remarkable years of service and a total of 32 years as a Carnegie Hall trustee. Mr. Weill will continue to serve as a member of Carnegie Hall's board, transitioning to a new role as President, a title formerly held by the late violinist Isaac Stern. Mr. Weill is only the second person to hold the title of President since Carnegie Hall was established as a non-profit in 1960.

Harris Theater Announces $5 Million Renovation Project

On Wednesday, February 11, The Harris Theater for Music and Dance begins a $5 million renovation project to reimage the patron experience. The addition of two new high-capacity elevators will make the path to each patron's seat easier and simpler. The expanded lower Randolph Street lobby will be the heart of intimate audience and artist engagement.

NJPAC's 2015–16 Bank of America Classical Music Series to Feature London Symphony, Joshua Bell & More

New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC), the premier presenter of classical music in the State of New Jersey since its inaugural season in 1997, today announced its 2015-16 Bank of America Classical Music Series, a unique season of exhilarating performances including a pair of Europe's most distinguished orchestras - the London Symphony under the baton of Valery Gergiev joined by pianist Yefim Bronfman and the Paris' Orchestre National de France conducted by Daniele Gatti with violinist Julian Rachlin. Two of the classical world's most eminent violinists will assume the role of both conductor and soloist with esteemed European orchestras - Joshua Bell returns to Prudential Hall to perform the Tchaikovsky concerto and conduct the Academy of St Martin in the Fields; and Pinchas Zukerman leads the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and performs the Mozart Violin Concerto No. 5. Michael Tilson Thomas and the San Francisco Symphony also perform with pianist Inon Barnatan playing Copland's Piano Concerto. And, the virtuoso pianist Lang Lang returns to NJPAC after four seasons to perform an exclusive New Jersey recital in Prudential Hall.

Carnegie Hall to Welcome Alan Gilbert, Marin Alsop & More During 2015-16 Season

Clive Gillinson, Executive and Artistic Director, today announced Carnegie Hall's 2015-2016 season consisting of more than 170 concerts as well as wide-ranging education and community programs created by Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute. The upcoming season includes performances by many of the world's greatest artists and ensembles representing classical, pop, jazz, and world music, with events presented on Carnegie Hall's three stages, in the Hall's new Resnick Education Wing, and throughout New York City.

The Orchestre de Paris, Les Arts Florissants, the Ensemble Intercontemporain and the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris, with star artists, Paavo Jarvi, Helene Grimaud and Renaud Capucon, and special guest Lang Lang, will lead the celebrations for the opening of the Philharmonie de Paris, France's new international music centre.
